The Shocker's Mix 105

Some of the stuff I work on doesn't make the cut so I thought about gathering them up in a single post. So basically it's images I have little or no info about or I've decided that they don't get their own thread, for example, because of low image/content quality, lack of backstory or additional info/knowledge, possibly uninteresting, only one image but not very special. I still do the usual image work including upscaling and color correction as needed, as I prefer to have my content high quality and educational.

Fig1.1 Massive destruction of head and brain evisceration.

Self-inflicted gunshot wound with massive destruction of head and brain evisceration resulting from barrel of rifle in mouth at time of discharge as victim sat at computer. Forensically, a self-inflicted intraoral gunshot wound with massive cranial destruction shows clear suicidal indicators. The muzzle placed inside the mouth produces extreme pressure and gas expansion, leading to brain evisceration and skull fragmentation. Soot, powder burns, and muzzle imprint inside the oral cavity confirm close contact firing. The trajectory typically moves upward and backward, consistent with self-infliction. Absence of defensive injuries, presence of the weapon near the body, and blood spatter consistent with self-directed fire strengthen the conclusion. Autopsy findings include extensive brain loss, comminuted cranial fractures, and carbonization of tissues at the entry site.

Fig2.1 Decomposing individual and maggot mass.

Decomposition, or putrefaction, is a combination of two processes: autolysis and bacterial action. Autolysis is the breakdown of cells and organs through an aseptic chemical process caused by intracellular enzymes. Because it is a chemical process, it is accelerated by heat, slowed by cold, and stopped by freezing. Bacterial action results in the conversion of soft tissues in the body to liquids and gases. The chemicals produced as a result of putrefaction are cadaverine and putrescine, hydrogen sulfide and other sulfides, which generate a horrible smell.

Maggots are the larval form of flies. Flies lay their eggs in small and sometimes large bulky clusters on accessible unsubmerged areas, crevices, and cavities of the body, preferring moist areas such as the eyes, nostrils, scalp, lips, ear canals, and open wounds. Individually, these are tiny, round to ovoid, tan-white structures that resemble seeds or grains of rice.

Fig3.1 Self-inflicted incised wound.

This man has self-inflicted incised wound on his neck. Self-inflicted injury is one of the most common causes of suicide. Extremity injury is thought to occur most frequently among penetrating injury; however, epidemiology among patients attempting suicide is unknown. Among self-inflicted trauma patients, abdominal injury was the most common injury, and neck/face injury, chest injury, and abdominal injury were related with aging. On the contrary, the rate of extremity injury decreased as patients’ age progressed.

Fig4.2

This individual has blunt abdominal wounds after falling out of the cabin when his tractor rolled over and was crushed to the ground by the frame of the front upper part of the cabin. The immediate cause of death was traumatic hemorrhagic shock (intestinal ruptures, profuse bleeding into the abdominal cavity and out of the anus).

Fig5.1 A hard contact entrance gunshot wound.

A hard contact entrance gunshot wound is present on the forehead of a young homicide victim. This type of wound occurs when the muzzle of the firearm is pressed tightly against the skin at the time of discharge. The force of the gunshot causes a characteristic laceration of the skin due to the explosive expansion of gases beneath the surface. Additionally, there is a notable deposition of soot, gunpowder particles, and other firearm residue embedded within the edges and margins of the wound. These features are consistent with close-range, execution-style shootings often seen in forensic homicide investigations.

The man shown in the image first grazed his right parietal scalp with an intermediate-range gunshot wound, then repositioned the muzzle against his right temple and died from the hard contact gunshot wound that was inflicted next.

Re: The Shocker's Mix 105

It’s nice to see these “clean” wounds with descriptions for a change.

Most of the time all we see is blood and carnage. which it still okay it’s just nice to see these all cleaned up.

“ Self-inflicted injury is one of the most common causes of suicide.”…it’s the only cause
