The Shocker's Mix 68
Some of the stuff I work on doesn't make the cut so I thought about gathering them up in a single post. So basically it's images I have little or no info about or I've decided that they don't get their own thread, for example, because of low image/content quality, lack of backstory or additional info/knowledge, possibly uninteresting, only one image but not very special. I still do the usual image work including upscaling and color correction as needed, as I prefer to have my content high quality and educational. - - - Case 1 Fig1.1 Contact blanching. Livor mortis (synonyms: livores, postmortem lividity, postmortem hypostasis) is visible as a usually bluish-violaceous to purple coloration appearing on lower (dependent) parts of the body within 30min to 3h after death. Livor mortis is frequently patterned since the appearance of livores is hindered when the vessels in dependent parts of the body are obstructed due to outer-surface compression, for example, when prominent parts of the body such as areas over bony structures firmly adhere to a rigid surface due to the weight of the body or when tight clothing compresses the involved vessel lumina. In such areas, livor mortis is absent: the involved outer-body surface appears pale to white, in contrast with the surrounding livor mortis. This contact blanching may image the exterior of objects that were in contact with the dependent parts of the body surface during livor mortis formation and occasionally the distinctive morphological appearance of contact blanching may give the death investigator valuable hints about the case in question. Creasing of the skin or tight clothing may produce contact blanching on the neck which may resemble ligature marks. Therefore, knowledge of the position of the head and neck, as well as the cloth worn at the time of death, is important for the death investigator. - - - Case 2 Fig2.1 Cut throat death. This individual bled to death after a cut throat injury. No further info. - - - Case 3 Fig3.1 Putrefactive blisters and skin slippage. Formation of putrefactive blisters and detachment of the upper layers of the skin in a decomposing individual. Decomposition, or putrefaction, is a combination of two processes: autolysis and bacterial action. Autolysis is the breakdown of cells and organs through an aseptic chemical process caused by intracellular enzymes. Because it is a chemical process, it is accelerated by heat, slowed by cold, and stopped by freezing. Bacterial action results in the conversion of soft tissues in the body to liquids and gases. The chemicals produced as a result of putrefaction are cadaverine and butyl mercaptides as well as hydrogen sulfide and other sulfides, which generate a horrible smell. Putrefaction begins immediately upon death and usually becomes noticeable within 24 hours. As soon as death occurs, the bacteria or microorganisms within the intestinal tract escape from the bowel into the other tissues of the body. As they grow, they begin to produce gases and other properties that distort and discolor the tissues of the body. The discoloration is a dark greenish combination of colors and is generally pronounced within 36 hours. As a result, the body begins to swell from the putrefactive gases, emitting an extremely repugnant odor. - - - Case 4 Fig4.1 Paramilitary group kills two caretakers. Fig4.2 One of the caretakers was shot point blank in the face with a shotgun while napping in a hammock. Fig4.3 The other caretaker tried to flee into the undergrowth, but was shot in the head. Fig4.4 The shot ripped a huge hole in his face. An armed paramilitary group of about 30 men invaded the La Ceiba estate in sector Marimonda I, in the parish of San José, the Jesús Enrique Lossada municipality, state of Zulia in Venezuela. Apparently, they were looking for a specific person, but since they didn’t find him, they killed two caretakers who were present on the farm. One of the caretakers was shot point blank in the face with a shotgun while napping in a hammock in the back of the house. Hearing the shot, the other caretaker tried to flee into the undergrowth, but was shot in the head. The shot ripped a huge hole in his face. After that, the assailants set fire to the inner part of the house and burned two motorcycles, presumed to belong to the victims. The property is owned by a man of 89 years, nicknamed “Cheo” Vera, who would have witnessed the attack, but managed to flee before the killers could get him. It would appear that the killers were a group of extortionists who were looking for the brother of 56 year old Eladio José Ferrer, whom they shot dead a few days earlier, as he was leaving a bakery located on Gran Parada street, Los Rosales in Concepción. The brother, they believed, was hiding in the farm. Eladio and his brother would have refused to submit to the demands of this paramilitary group of extortionists, and for that reason they were threatened and targeted for assassination. - - - Case 5 Fig5.1 4th degree burns on the head. Fig5.2 Very few burns were observed on the legs. A deep pressure ulcer projected onto the right anterior pelvic spine. A 49-year-old woman was found dead in her apartment after a fire in a residential building in Germany. The woman was being cared for by an acquaintance, who was the owner of the apartment. He brought her a meal every day, but she had not touched these for two days before the outbreak of fire. The police suspected arson by the homeowner because after detecting the fire, instead of contacting the local fire department, he called a police station in another federal state far away from the location of the fire. An autopsy at the Institute of Legal Medicine was performed on the woman’s body the day after the fire. The decedent’s weight and height were 94 kg and 163 cm respectively. The head and back of the body showed burns as high as 3rd and 4th degree. The legs and stomach were only slightly burned (1st degree) because of protection from several layers of thick clothing that she was wearing at the time. The presence of livor mortis could not be proven. Observations made during the autopsy suggested that the woman was not alive when the fire started. Interestingly, the organs showed signs of putrefaction. Both chemicotoxicological analysis and examination of blood alcohol level suggested that the woman had not taken any alcohol or drugs recently. The cause of death was determined to be hypothermia, most likely due to gastrointestinal hemorrhage. Exposure to the fire occurred postmortem. It was therefore assumed that the woman died a few days before the outbreak of the fire. However, there were no indications that violence caused her death. - - - Case 6 Fig6.1 Green discoloration of the body. Putrefaction involves the action of bacteria on the tissues of the body. This process, prevalent in moist climates, is associated with green discoloration of the body; gas production with associated bloating; skin slippage; and a foul odor. - - - Case 7 Fig7.1 Chess buddy killed with a samurai sword. Fig7.2 A katana sword with a blue handle is found in the kitchen on the sink. April 2019 - Mönchengladbach, Germany. Two men had met on a bus and after a conversation about their common passion for chess, they decided to go to a chess tournament together. Both men were heavy drinkers, and on the way to the tournament, they started to consume alcohol. In the end, both were inebriated and not in the condition to play chess. They went to the offender’s house to continue drinking. There, the two men must have had an argument during which the offender attacked the victim. Only a few details about the crime itself are known, but in the end, the victim suffered a number of deep blow wounds and died. After the course of the crime, the police were called in by the perpetrator himself. The perpetrator was sentenced to 9 years in prison for manslaughter and to court-ordered rehab. He also has to pay the victim's wife and two children compensation for pain and suffering totaling 25,000 euros ($30,000). Re: The Shocker's Mix 68
Love the green ones as that was what my mothers body was like. Yeah I know I’m weird. I prefer “fascinated by macabre”. ![]() |
