The Shocker's Mix 104
Some of the stuff I work on doesn't make the cut so I thought about gathering them up in a single post. So basically it's images I have little or no info about or I've decided that they don't get their own thread, for example, because of low image/content quality, lack of backstory or additional info/knowledge, possibly uninteresting, only one image but not very special. I still do the usual image work including upscaling and color correction as needed, as I prefer to have my content high quality and educational. - - - Case 1 Fig1.1 Decomposing individual. Decomposition, or putrefaction, is a combination of two processes: autolysis and bacterial action. Autolysis is the breakdown of cells and organs through an aseptic chemical process caused by intracellular enzymes. Because it is a chemical process, it is accelerated by heat, slowed by cold, and stopped by freezing. Bacterial action results in the conversion of soft tissues in the body to liquids and gases. The chemicals produced as a result of putrefaction are cadaverine and putrescine, hydrogen sulfide and other sulfides, which generate a horrible smell. Maggots are the larval form of flies. Flies lay their eggs in small and sometimes large bulky clusters on accessible unsubmerged areas, crevices, and cavities of the body, preferring moist areas such as the eyes, nostrils, scalp, lips, ear canals, and open wounds. Individually, these are tiny, round to ovoid, tan-white structures that resemble seeds or grains of rice. - - - Case 2 Fig2.1 Gunshot victim still retaining a loose hold of the weapon. Many well documented reviews of gunshot suicides show that the weapon is found to be still in the grasp of the victim. This was defined in Garavaglia’s series of 498 deaths as having a finger on the trigger or loosely gripping the barrel or grip of the gun. Given this scientific background of the not uncommon finding of a gun being found loosely gripped in the hand or touching the trigger, we then note the progression to the use of the term “cadaveric spasm” in gunshot deaths. - - - Case 3 Fig3.1 Death caused by self strangulation. Fig3.2 Closer view of the hand retaining the cord and resting on the chest wall. A case where death was caused by self strangulation. The initial picture is vaguely suggestive of the arm being in the air, however this is dispelled in the latter picture and by other scene photos. Although there are extremely unusual aspects to this case, it was deemed to be a suicide due to the lack of a struggle at the scene in a locked apartment and with the background of amphetamine usage. - - - Case 4 Fig4.1 Shotgun gunshot wound to the head. Fig4.2 The head is the most common location for a suicidal shotgun wound (74%), followed by the chest (20%) and then the abdomen (6%). In head wounds, the most common location was intraoral (50%), followed by under the chin (19%); side of head, including parietal and temporal wounds (15%); and the face, including the forehead (13%). - - - Case 5 Fig5.1 Self-inflicted incised wounds. This individual has self-inflicted incised wounds on the neck, in the antecubital fossae, and on the flexor aspects of the forearms, as well as on the wrists. Although the discovery of a body with multiple sharp force injuries can be alarming, the location/distribution of injuries is important in the differentiation between suicidal and homicidal injuries. - - - Case 6 Fig6.1 Self-inflicted wounds to the neck by a broken bottle. Numerous hesitation marks accompany the self-inflicted gouges to the neck by a broken bottle. Hesitation marks are not always present with self- inflicted incised wounds. Hesitation marks are usually straight sharp instrument wounds that are often found on the bodies, especially the wrists and neck area, of suicide victims. Hesitation marks tend to be of different depths as the victim experiments prior to cutting a deep enough wound to kill themselves. - - - Part 1 --- Part 2 --- Part 3 --- Part 4 --- Part 5 --- Part 6 --- Part 7 --- Part 8 --- Part 9 --- Part 10 --- Part 11 --- Part 12 --- Part 13 --- Part 14 --- Part 15 --- Part 16 --- Part 17 --- Part 18 --- Part 19 --- Part 20 --- Part 21 --- Part 22 --- Part 23 --- Part 24 --- Part 25 --- Part 26 --- Part 27 --- Part 28 --- Part 29 --- Part 30 --- Part 31 --- Part 32 --- Part 33 --- Part 34 --- Part 35 --- Part 36 --- Part 37 --- Part 38 --- Part 39 --- Part 40 --- Part 41 --- Part 42 --- Part 43 --- Part 44 --- Part 45 --- Part 46 --- Part 47 --- Part 48 --- Part 49 --- Part 50 --- Part 51 --- Part 52 --- Part 53 --- Part 54 --- Part 55 --- Part 56 --- Part 57 --- Part 58 --- Part 59 --- Part 60 --- Part 61 --- Part 62 --- Part 63 --- Part 64 --- Part 65 --- Part 66 --- Part 67 --- Part 68 --- Part 69 --- Part 70 --- Part 71 --- Part 72 --- Part 73 --- Part 74 --- Part 75 --- Part 76 --- Part 77 --- Part 78 --- Part 79 --- Part 80 --- Part 81 --- Part 82 --- Part 83 --- Part 84 --- Part 85 --- Part 86 --- Part 87 --- Part 88 --- Part 89 --- Part 90 --- Part 91 --- Part 92 --- Part 93 --- Part 94 --- Part 95 --- Part 96 --- Part 97 --- Part 98 --- Part 99 --- Part 100 --- Part 101 --- Part 102 --- Part 103 - This post is for educational purposes only and is nonprofit. Re: The Shocker's Mix 104
Used to work in a cemetery . My coworker and I found this gentleman dead by his late wife's grave with his finger still on the trigger much like the fella in the second picture. Us men don't seem to live as long after the death of a spouse , or at least not as long as a woman does . If the wife dies first , the husband is usually soon to follow , from what I've noticed.
