Some of the stuff I work on doesn't make the cut so I thought about gathering them up in a single post. So basically it's images I have little or no info about or I've decided that they don't get their own thread, for example, because of low image/content quality, lack of backstory or additional info/knowledge, possibly uninteresting, only one image but not very special. I still do the usual image work including upscaling and color correction as needed, as I prefer to have my content high quality and educational.

An avulsion injury of the skin of the face, sustained in a pedestrian versus motor vehicle collision. No further info.

Case 2


Fig2.1 Gunshot wound of the head.

This is a contact gunshot wound with stellate “blowback” lacerations caused by the rapid infusion of gas under the skin from the muzzle of the gun. Scalp hair has been shaved to demonstrate a gunshot wound of the head better.

Fig3.1 Adipocere formation on face.

Adipocere is caused by fat saponification, which is associated with yellow-white discoloration. The face demonstrates distortion of features, sloughing of the epidermis, and hardening of the subcutaneous adipose tissue associated with yellow-white discoloration.

Case 4


Fig4.1 Multiple dicing injuries.

Two 21-year-old men were involved in a motor vehicle collision after being seen leaving a house party together in the same vehicle. The men were not wearing seatbelts, and both were ejected during a rollover collision that followed the loss of control of the speeding vehicle around a bend in the road. Both men were legally intoxicated with ethanol. The victim in the photograph has multiple dicing injuries on his face.

This individual committed suicide with a gun. He has massive head trauma and cranial rupture. The head is the most common location for a suicidal shotgun wound (74%), followed by the chest (20%) and then the abdomen (6%). In head wounds, the most common location was intraoral (50%), followed by under the chin (19%); side of head, including parietal and temporal wounds (15%); and the face, including the forehead (13%).

On a Friday evening, a 21-year-old female was found dead at her workplace, a children’s toy shop, with her body hanging inside an elevator. The scene investigation was performed about thirty minutes after the discovery of the deceased. A portable three-stair ladder had trapped her, pressing her neck, and the head against the ceiling of the elevator.
