The Shocker's Mix 62

Some of the stuff I work on doesn't make the cut so I thought about gathering them up in a single post. So basically it's images I have little or no info about or I've decided that they don't get their own thread, for example, because of low image/content quality, lack of backstory or additional info/knowledge, possibly uninteresting, only one image but not very special. I still do the usual image work including upscaling and color correction as needed, as I prefer to have my content high quality and educational.

Victim of hemorrhaging peptic ulcer found on the floor in his bathroom. Note the brown color of the blood on the floor. The victim vomited blood into his toilet prior to his death. Note the dark brown clumps of denatured blood referred to as “coffee ground emesis.”

Fig2.2 Gases exit the barrel before the projectile. As a result, the gas collides with bone tissue & causes expansion of the subcutaneous space with tearing & laceration of the skin.

In contact gunshot wounds with bony tissue underlying the injury, the injuries are typically called a stellate wound, where the gases exit the barrel before the projectile. As a result, the gas collides with the bone tissue, resulting in the reflection of the gases. This gas causes the expansion of subcutaneous space and pressure, which results in an explosive injury, tearing, and lacerating the skin and subcutaneous tissue, resulting in the stellate wound.

Fig3.1 Patterned abrasion on neck in autoerotic death.

Patterned abrasion on neck associated with autoerotic hanging with belt, no further info. Autoerotic death refers to the accidental death of individuals of either sex due to failure of devices, or unexpected effects of materials, that were being used to enhance the sexual experience. Although asphyxia from hanging has been described most frequently, a wide variety of other lethal situations have been reported. As there is great variability in the number and types of sexual aids that may be used by individuals, careful death scene examination is essential in helping to exclude suicide and more rarely homicide. The clandestine nature of this paraphilia may, however, make subsequent identification and diagnosis difficult unless the death scene features are typical. This is particularly so in the rare cases involving women.

Fig4.1 Arterial patterns on wall and floor.

Arterial patterns on wall and floor in conjunction with large accumulation of blood from victim with malfunctioning arterial venous shunt. There are cases where the victim has sustained arterial injury inflicted while down on a surface such as a bed, carpet, floor, or ground where the subsequent expelling of blood forms a pool or satu- ration stain. Typical arterial spurting or gushing patterns are not present. It is important to attend the autopsy or examine the autopsy report to correlate the presence of arterial patterns with evidence of a damaged artery. The presence of arterial bloodstain patterns indicates arterial damage, but their absence does not preclude arterial damage from having occurred. Arterial bloodstain patterns have also been the result of therapeutic misadventure such as a malfunctioning arterial/venous shunt.

Fig5.1 A void pattern within a bloodstained area.

The Netherlands. A view of victim on floor prior to removal and a view of void area on floor after removal of victim. A void pattern, a form of alteration, is the absence of bloodstaining in an otherwise continuous bloodstained area. The void is a result of the presence of intervening objects or people. If the object or person is shifted in position or completely removed, the resultant unstained void pattern remains. The void may be the recognizable outline of an object or may just show that someone or something interrupted the bloodstain pattern. Frequently, the position of a victim can be reconstructed by observation of a complete or partial outline of the victim or within a bloodstained area. Void areas within spatter patterns may assist with the location of the assailant. Void areas may be present on the clothing of victims that may indicate folding of the material or position of arms or hands or legs at the time of bloodshed.

Fig6.1 Body in a state of decomposition.

Decomposition, or putrefaction, is a combination of two processes: autolysis and bacterial action. Autolysis is the breakdown of cells and organs through an aseptic chemical process caused by intracellular enzymes. Because it is a chemical process, it is accelerated by heat, slowed by cold, and stopped by freezing. Bacterial action results in the conversion of soft tissues in the body to liquids and gases. The chemicals produced as a result of putrefaction are cadaverine and putrescine, hydrogen sulfide and other sulfides, which generate a horrible smell.

Putrefaction begins immediately upon death and usually becomes noticeable within 24 hours. As soon as death occurs, the bacteria or microorganisms within the intestinal tract escape from the bowel into the other tissues of the body. As they grow, they begin to produce gases and other properties that distort and discolor the tissues of the body. The discoloration is a dark greenish combination of colors and is generally pronounced within 36 hours. As a result, the body begins to swell from the putrefactive gases, emitting an extremely repugnant odor.

The rate of decomposition depends on the temperature, ground conditions, amount of clothing, size of the body, etc. For example, a body in a warm climate will not only encourage insect attack from the outside, but will also increase the interior bacteria development and subsequent tissue attack from within. As the tissues inside are destroyed and enzymes released, the gases formed emit a foul and sickening smell.

Fig7.2 Slashed neck from a broken bottle.

This individual died after getting attacked with a broken bottle that slashed his neck, no more info. A particular form of slashed wound arises from ‘glassing’, that is, the use of a broken drinking glass or bottle as a weapon. Where, more commonly, a glass or bottle is used as a blunt instrument, it may shatter on impact with a victim’s head, and the resulting injuries may both be blunt and incised. The glass may sometimes be broken prior to the attack, to produce edges that are exquisitely sharp. There may also be spikes of glass, which can inflict deep, almost stab wounds.

Slashes when inflicted by broken glass or bottle, are typical of a fight, when the assailant strikes out with a swiping action, rather than the thrust of a stabbing attack. They are common in gang fights and bar-room brawls and the weapon may be swung at arm’s length in a horizontal arc so that if it contacts a body it will slice the skin and tissues as it passes by.

Re: The Shocker's Mix 62

You're the hand that Shocks the DR cradle I find the bloodstain patterns super interesting! The #7 is a stark reminder that yes, a broken bottle can potentially be a fatal weapon I think they're sometimes overlooked as "poor man's switchblades" or as something only awkward drunks would try to intimidate people with.
