The Shocker's Mix 67

Some of the stuff I work on doesn't make the cut so I thought about gathering them up in a single post. So basically it's images I have little or no info about or I've decided that they don't get their own thread, for example, because of low image/content quality, lack of backstory or additional info/knowledge, possibly uninteresting, only one image but not very special. I still do the usual image work including upscaling and color correction as needed, as I prefer to have my content high quality and educational.

Fig1.3 Marks from the rifle.

This individual committed suicide with a gunshot under the chin using a rifle also resulting in a complete evisceration of the brain. Burn and smoke marks can be seen around the wound. No further info.

Krönlein shot indicates a prolapse of an intact brain hemisphere or, more rarely, of both brain hemispheres in high-velocity missile injuries to the brain during close-range shooting. In cases of Krönlein shot, a gunshot wound to the skull with a high-velocity bullet, the skull is shattered by the temporary wound cavity and there is a complete evisceration of the brain.

In the case of a high-powered firearm, the amount of gas generated by the blast is so large that a shot fired with the weapon in contact with the head causes extensive destruction. Discharge of a high-powered firearm into the mouth is associated with tremendous overexpansion of the soft tissues of the head and massive fractures of the skull. This causes vertical tears of the skin in front of the ears and along the creases on either side of the mouth and nose, as well as the inner angles of the eyes.

In 1899, Rudolf Ulrich Krönlein, who was a Swiss surgeon, described evisceration of brain in a high-velocity gunshot wound to the head.

Fig6.1 Woman decapitated by her husband.

A 41-year female, from Lalitpur, Kathmandu, Nepal, who was decapitated by her husband in their bedroom. The victim was hit over the head with a hammer while she was sleeping and later dragged to the corner of the room and her head severed with a “khurpa”, which is a locally-made, harvesting sickle. All the internal organs were pale due to the massive blood loss, signifying that the injuries were inflicted when the decedent was alive. After the autopsy, the cause of death was ascertained to be homicidal decapitation.

Fig7.2 The car with the deceased in the front passenger seat.

Norway. In June 2003, a small Mazda 232 automobile was involved in an accident. In a sharp left curve, the car in high speed had hit the guardrail on the right side of the road. The rail was bent and destroyed. Several road sign poles with warning signs of a sharp curve were on the other side, close to the guardrail. The head of a young woman with dark blond hair was found close to one of the poles. Fifty meters from the nearest pole, the car had crashed into a mountainside after first having collided with the guardrail. The motor of the car was still running.

All car doors were closed, and both frontal airbags were released. The window on the passenger side was broken and the glass had fallen out. The windscreen was fractured and covered with bloodstains on the passenger side. In the passenger seat, a young decapitated woman was found sitting, leaning forward. The seat belt had not been in use. There was much blood inside the car on the passenger side. The driver had disappeared but was later found and arrested.
