The Shocker's Mix 59
Some of the stuff I work on doesn't make the cut so I thought about gathering them up in a single post. So basically it's images I have little or no info about or I've decided that they don't get their own thread, for example, because of low image/content quality, lack of backstory or additional info/knowledge, possibly uninteresting, only one image but not very special. I still do the usual image work including upscaling and color correction as needed, as I prefer to have my content high quality and educational. - - - Case 1  Fig1.1 The man died at the scene.  Fig1.2 The man opened fire from his apartment door. US. A 61-year-old man opened fire from his apartment door on bailiffs evicting him, he was fatally shot. Autopsy demonstrates 3 gunshot wounds (head, left arm, abdomen), 2 bullets recovered (head- unjacketed; torso- partial jacketing). No further info. - - - Case 2  Fig2.1 Suicidal hanging of a young man. Suicidal hanging of a young man with the knees bent and the feet touching the floor. The hanging device was a belt forming an open noose fixed to the handle of a window. The blinds had been pulled down to prevent early detection of the victim. A suicide note was found on the desk. - - - Case 3  Fig3.1 Woman hit by train. Frontal aspect of a train after collision with a 63-year-old woman who remained standing between the rails in an upright position in spite of warning signals. The back was penetrated by a hook so that the body was carried along until the train came to a standstill. Death was caused by blunt cranial trauma with exenteration of the brain. - - - Case 4  Fig4.1 Psychiatric patient jumped off a building.  Fig4.2 Psychiatric patient jumped off a building. Scene of suicide. The victim was a 57-year-old psychiatric inpatient who had left her ward unnoticed and jumped from an outside stair*case of the hospital from a height of about 20 m (65 feet). - - - Case 5  Fig5.1 The rear end of the incision showed shallow notches indicating that the blade had been moved back and forth several times.  Fig5.2 The skin of the precordial region displayed superficial tentative lesions. Another three cuts were located on the flexor side of left forearm. Suicide of a 53-year-old woman who inflicted cuts to both sides of her neck and to the flexor sides of her forearms. As only minor vessels had been severed, the victim survived for a prolonged time and finally died from hypothermia due to the low outside temperature. The cuts were inflicted with a scalpel found close to the body. The rear end of the incision on the right side of the neck showed some shallow notches indicating that the blade had been moved back and forth several times. The skin of the precordial region displayed superficial tentative lesions. Another three cuts were located on the flexor side of left forearm. The woman had a history of paranoid psychosis and several suicide attempts. - - - Case 6  Fig6.1 Exhumed body. This body was exhumed 5 years after death. Decompositional changes (putrefaction, mummification, and adipocere formation) are fueled by the body’s endogenous bacterial flora, taking place over time and with great variability, depending on the host and environ- mental factors. Mummification in dry environments tends to affect the face and distal extremities (hands and feet) more readily. Not uncommonly, the affected body parts take on a parchment-like and leathery quality, making fingerprinting difficult, if not impossible in some cases, but in the absence of putrefactive facial bloating, visual identification is sometimes still possible. - - - Case 7  Fig7.1 Green-brown-red discoloration and skin slippage; scrotal enlargement from gas formation due to metabolism of proliferating microorganisms. The earliest external sign of putrefaction is the greenish discoloration of the skin of the anterior abdominal wall in the right iliac fossa region. In this region of the abdomen, the caecum, loaded with semi-solid intestinal content and commensal gut bacteria, lies quite superficial. This greenish discoloration of the skin results from the formation of sulfhemoglobin facilitated by the commensal intestinal bacteria that invade the tissues after death. This skin discoloration in the right iliac fossa region appears about 18 hours after death. In temperate climates, this greening may first appear 2 to 3 days after death. The ambient temperature affects the speed of onset of putrefaction and its rate of progression. In the bloated stage, body parts, including organs and soft tissues, swell due to the accumulation of putrefactive gases or other decompositional products from the putrefaction process. It usually starts in the abdomen and then slowly affects other parts, including the face, breasts, and genitals. Also, during this stage, skin changes occur, such as blisters and slippage. Skin slippage at the extremities is known as degloving. Moreover, the phenomenon of marbling is also present during this stage, where blood vessels are visible on the skin as greenish-black streaks and eventually results in skin discoloration ranging from green to black. I love Shock'n'Roll  Omg the number #3, the train reminds me of a cat that has brought a mouse to its owner. "Look, I've got a gift for you!" And yet another Monster's Ball in pic #7 Lots of suicides too, which is sad but they're part of our reality hence worth documenting. If someone came up with a solution to eliminating all suicides, I'm sure they'd win a Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. |
