The Shocker's Mix 52
Some of the stuff I work on doesn't make the cut so I thought about gathering them up in a single post. So basically it's images I have little or no info about or I've decided that they don't get their own thread, for example, because of low image/content quality, lack of backstory or additional info/knowledge, possibly uninteresting, only one image but not very special. I still do the usual image work including upscaling and color correction as needed, as I prefer to have my content high quality and educational. - - - Case 1 Fig1.1 Bloated body. Toronto, Canada. Body is bloated with increased internal gases heightened during mid-stages of putrifaction. Note the bagging of hands to preserve trace evidence. During the later stages of putrefaction, the entire body becomes bloated with the pressure of internal gas and eventually collapses, leaking what is called purge fluid. - - - Case 2 Fig2.1 Body in stages of black putrefaction. Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Body in stages of black putrefaction apparent in extensive mottling, the draining of purge fluid, and overall darkening of exposed wounds and flesh. Black putrefaction is the stage where the exposed flesh blackens, and the internal organs and tissues take on a creamy consistency. The body then hastens toward fermentation and molding, referred to as butyric fermentation. - - - Case 3 Fig3.1 Body found in water. Toronto, Canada. Body found in water in an early stage of putrefaction with extensive wrinkling of feet and hands. Under water, there are common patterns of swelling during putrefaction where hands and feet and the outer layer of skin separates from the underlying tissues after approximately five to six days in temperate water. - - - Case 4 Fig4.1 A civilian was shot in the head during a protest. Mogok, Myanmar - 2021. Two protesters were shot and killed by regime troops during a demonstration on Saturday to welcome the anti-junta National Unity Government (NUG) in the Mandalay Region town of Mogok, according to local sources. Around 100 soldiers and police arrived at the scene in Aung Chanthar ward and opened fire on the civilians present, eyewitnesses said. “One [of the protesters] was shot in the head. Another was shot in the abdomen,” a local who was also at the demonstration told Myanmar Now. The two casualties were two men: Soe Thet, 29, and Aung Moe Zaw, who was in his 50s, according to a local who was involved in the protest. - - - Case 5 Fig5.1 Krönlein shot. Krönlein shot indicates a prolapse of an intact brain hemisphere or, more rarely, of both brain hemispheres in high-velocity missile injuries to the brain during close-range shooting. In cases of Krönlein shot, a gunshot wound to the skull with a high-velocity bullet, the skull is shattered by the temporary wound cavity and there is a complete evisceration of the brain. In the case of a high-powered firearm, the amount of gas generated by the blast is so large that a shot fired with the weapon in contact with the head causes extensive destruction. Discharge of a high-powered firearm into the mouth is associated with tremendous overexpansion of the soft tissues of the head and massive fractures of the skull. This causes vertical tears of the skin in front of the ears and along the creases on either side of the mouth and nose, as well as the inner angles of the eyes. In 1899, Rudolf Ulrich Krönlein, who was a Swiss surgeon, described evisceration of brain in a high-velocity gunshot wound to the head. - - - Case 6 Fig6.1 Postmortem venous marbling. Postmortem venous marbling refers to the appearance of a marbled pattern on the skin caused by pooling of blood in veins after death. It is a characteristic feature of decomposition and can be used to estimate the time since death in forensic investigations. The pattern of venous marbling can change as decomposition progresses and is influenced by various factors such as the position of the body, environmental conditions, and the cause of death. The presence and progression of postmortem venous marbling can provide important clues for forensic investigations. - - - Case 7 Fig7.1 Self-inflicted gunshot wound to the forehead with a shotgun. Auto-translated from German. Self-inflicted gunshot to the forehead with a shotgun. The scalp is torn open in several long stretches; the actual bullet defect cannot be identified. The bony skull is largely dismantled, and large parts of the brain are no longer inside the skull. There are short, separate skin tears on both sides of the nose. No further info about this case. Why on earth they censored the mouth instead of the usual eyes I have no idea. Centerfire rifles, whether military or hunting, frequently cause a strong ‘explosive’ effect with comminution of bones and laceration of brain tissue up to a so-called Kröhnlein shot (exenteratio cranii). Shotgun injuries differ substantially depending on the range of fire. Close-range shots have a tremendous effect similar to centerfire rifles by literally riddling brain tissue and blasting the skull. The high internal cranial pressure often leads to long skin tears, also detached from the bullet opening, as well as extensive bone fracture systems and brain tissue destruction. - Part 1 --- Part 2 --- Part 3 --- Part 4 --- Part 5 --- Part 6 --- Part 7 --- Part 8 --- Part 9 --- Part 10 --- Part 11 --- Part 12 --- Part 13 --- Part 14 --- Part 15 --- Part 16 --- Part 17 --- Part 18 --- Part 19 --- Part 20 --- Part 21 --- Part 22 --- Part 23 --- Part 24 --- Part 25 --- Part 26 --- Part 27 --- Part 28 --- Part 29 --- Part 30 --- Part 31 --- Part 32 --- Part 33 --- Part 34 --- Part 35 --- Part 36 --- Part 37 --- Part 38 --- Part 39 --- Part 40 --- Part 41 --- Part 42 --- Part 43 --- Part 44 --- Part 45 --- Part 46 --- Part 47 --- Part 48 --- Part 49 --- Part 50 --- Part 51 - This post is for educational purposes only and is nonprofit.
