The Shocker's Mix 91

Some of the stuff I work on doesn't make the cut so I thought about gathering them up in a single post. So basically it's images I have little or no info about or I've decided that they don't get their own thread, for example, because of low image/content quality, lack of backstory or additional info/knowledge, possibly uninteresting, only one image but not very special. I still do the usual image work including upscaling and color correction as needed, as I prefer to have my content high quality and educational.

Russia. The body of a 42-year-old woman with extensive open injuries to the chest, head, neck, and right shoulder was found in an apartment. A hand-held circular saw was found next to the corpse, heavily stained with blood, fatty tissue, hair, and brain matter. According to the roommate, who was intoxicated at the time of inspection of the scene and had been drinking alcohol for a long time before the incident, it is known that he struck several blows to the woman with a switched-off saw and attempted to dismember the body. During this, he became very tired, and fell asleep, when he woke up, he found his roommate lying on the floor covered in blood and called an ambulance and the police.

Fig2.2 Lacerations on the back of the head.

This individual has blunt force trauma and lacerations on his face and the back of the head. No further info. A laceration or cut refers to a skin wound. Unlike an abrasion, none of the skin is missing. A cut is typically thought of as a wound caused by a sharp object, like a shard of glass. Lacerations tend to be caused by blunt trauma.

Fig3.1 Raccoon eyes.

Raccoon eye or periorbital ecchymosis is caused by blood tracking into periorbital tissues (the area around the eye), which is frequently observed after head trauma but is also observed in systemic diseases, such as amyloidosis, neuroblastoma, and surgical interventions.

Incised wound – A clean, straight cut caused by a sharp edge (i.e. a knife). Tends to bleed heavily as multiple vessels may be cut directly across. Connecting structures such as ligaments and tendons may also be involved.

Fig5.1 Chopping wounds of the head from an axe.

Note the incised-like nature of wounds with cutting of underlying bone. A chop wound is caused by a heavy weapon or instrument with at least one sharp cutting edge—e.g., axe, machete, panga; often the wound has abraded margins—which may be scraped off—and may be thus confused with a laceration; chop wounds over bone may have a groove or cut in the underlying bone—e.g., skull.

Fig6.1 Incised wounds across the face and neck.

USA. A cluster of incised wounds across the face and neck. Incised wounds can also be referred to as “cutting” injuries. They result from contact with a sharp-edged object, with the force of impact running in a direction that is roughly parallel (or tangential) to the skin surface. If the object inflicting the injury is in motion, an incised wound can be thought of as resulting from a slashing action of the object. Typically, the angles at either end of an incised wound will have a sharp appearance. Determining the direction that an incised wound was inflicted – for example, from right to left across the neck, or from left to right – is not usually possible, unless small tags of skin can be seen “rolled-up” along the margin of the wound, in a fashion similar to certain abrasions where the direction of force can be determined.

Incised wounds produced by smooth-edged blades and serrated-edged blades can be indistinguishable from one another; however, serrated weapons may produce surrounding superficial skin injuries as described above. Alternatively, there may be similar marks elsewhere on the skin surface, distant from stab and incised wounds. As with clusters of stab wounds, incised wounds can also be clustered.

Fig7.1 A mummified human corpse found in an apartment.

2018 - Lower Silesia Province, Poland. The remains of a 60 year old man were discovered in his flat on 13 December 2018, it was estimated he died no later than the summer of 2018, but with a strong probability that death occurred even earlier, in 2016 or 2017.

The 60 year old man lived in a municipal flat located on the fourth floor of an old pre-war block of flats in the centre of the city, maintaining no contacts with his neighbours. On 13 July 2015, the tenant testified, in documents he signed himself, that he was familiar with the rate of payment for the flat. In January 2016, he failed to pick up a letter from the manager. From June 2016 to October 2018, the manager of the block of flats carried out four local inquiries (asking neighbours), which failed to establish the tenant’s presence in the flat.
