Young Indonesian Woman Found Hanging
Cut-down and antemortem photos only. 19 year old Widya Istiyanti was discovered by her family this morning, hanging from a home-made noose attached to the back of her bedroom door. They had not seen her for a few hours and when she did not answer their knocking, they found the door blocked and forced it open. They cut her down immediately, but she was already deceased. Her family, who operated a small second-hand store in the community, said that she had been quiet and reserved lately after they refused to let her move in with her boyfriend before marriage. She did not leave a note. The family did not wish to pay for a full autopsy, so the police and forensic workers conducted a physical examination of the scene and the body but did not perform a full postmortem. Dr. Diana Fitriyani, who oversaw the examination, stated that the circumstances and disposition of the body were consistent with suicide. No marks of violence were found, aside from the ligature mark that matched the scarf she had used as a noose. Her tongue was bitten, but not protruding. Some livor mortis was apparent, but not fixed. She had lost control of her sphincters while asphyxiating and her jeans were still damp with urine. Time of death was estimated to be no more than three hours prior to the exam and no anatomical evidence was uncovered to dispute suicide. The police are seeking out her boyfriend and have confiscated her clothing and her cell phone and the noose to look for evidence of possible foul play, but thus far nothing has been discovered to refute the conclusion of suicide.  ·  ·  ·  ·  ·  ·  ·  ·  ·  ·  ·  · |

Slightly off topic, I apologize in advance, but I wish corpse shrouding like this was a thing we did more often here in the states. I don't know if it's even allowed. My boyfriend's mother passed a few years ago and the amount we were forced to spend on a casket plus a vault was astronomical. I understand it's supposed to keep people from digging bodies up or robbing the graves but is that even a big risk anymore? honestly for me, just wrap me up in a nice piece of cloth and stick me in the ground to decompose, ffs. |
