Re: Suicide by Cop Like a BOSS
Not to play devil's advocate but there are AK variants custom chambered in .308. That being said, I saw pictures of the magazines retrieved from the suspect's car and they were the right width for 7.62X39. An interesting read as well: The Defense Department released data yesterday showing how little a rise in gun sales has made crime go up. Actually, all gun crime has decreased since 1993 and less than 3% has been done with a military style rifle. Interesting find. |

Re: Suicide by Cop Like a BOSS
That was pretty freaking gangster. The cops fired 10's of rounds at that guy, and he was taking them like, "What bitches!" Cops are lucky it wasn't me, because at least one of them would have been dead. I remember in my tactical training days long ago, we were drilled not to aim at the head since it is a much smaller target, but I simply never saw that as a valid reason. There are skilled marksmen who can shoot a penny out of the air, and they weren't born that good, it took practice. Head shots on either side would have ended that much quicker. Good post! |

Re: Suicide by Cop Like a BOSS
Well since people want to get technical about the gun let me put you all to shame. The rifle used was a Hungarian made AMD 65, you can tell by the unique furniture along the bottom, the lack of a head shield over the gas tube, the unique to AK's muzzle brake, and the dual pistol grips as well as the folding wire stock. The magazines used are stamped steel 45 round magazines (at least most of them) with 7.62x39mm Soviet ammo. A big thing that may have saved the lives of these police was the ammo. If you look the ammo he is using is brass cased, meaning its American made, and not Soviet Surplus which uses a steel core as compared to American knock off which uses a lead core, Steel core ammo acts as an armor piercing round, where lead will just explode when it hits something hard.
