» VPN Usage | I understand that the use of VPN’s in some cases is needed if you wish to view this site, especially in countries where online privacy is not respected very much. I also understand that some people just like to use them, even if they reside in countries that do respect internet privacy, but their use does complicate things, so I wanted to give you heads up.
Although I support VPN’s and proxies in general, and don’t want to ban them outright, most of the abuse this site receives daily comes from people using them. So, in order to protect the site, if you’re using one, you may be subject to frequent captchas or other methods to help assure you’re not a bot, attempting to DDOS the site, or several other things we don’t want here. In some cases, if the abuse from an entire network is severe enough, the entire network will be banned, which means you would need to use another VPN provider in order to view the site.
If you are using a VPN or proxy and are having issues, you may find it helpful to install Privacy Pass (https://privacypass.github.io/) using this will likely cut down on the number of captchas you receive. You can also email me at chris@documentingreality.com if you’re blocked and I can give you some insight as to why, but keep in mind, I may not be able to do anything for you depending on the abuse level coming from your IP or the network you're using, and you may just have to wait until the abuse lets up and the network is unbanned. | |
