Re: Exhumations

We opened the lid, and he basiclly looked like bones with wet, slime covered leather stretched across them. His eyes had some how retained most of their shape, but were the color of ducttape. We went prepared, we had the equivilent of haz-mat suits. I could smell that smell for three weeks. That was pretty foul, as I am sure you can imagine.

Re: Exhumations

Ain't nothin' worse than dead body / animal smell. I don't know if I would want to do any exhumations after that, that smell would make me sick. Was that body buried in a legitimate graveyard? I thought graves had to have a cement liner to keep out groundwater.
A guy I talked to lived near a catholic cemetary and/or churchyard. People would show up after hours to bury newborns or miscarriages that they couldn't afford to give a proper burial. Pretty damn sad.

Re: Exhumations

The laws are different acording to location. All city cemetaries require an outer container (around here anyway), however in family cemetaries around here, you can stick them in a cardboard box and bury them without an outer container. I am sure you have seen these kinds of caskets, if not, watch a video about cremation.

Well, true, but the fire doesn't need our flesh. We can't nourish it anymore. We can feed the ground and animals though, it's just not a pretty process.

Re: Exhumations

It is pretty much like a Mountain Dew 12 pack box. And about the smell, HELL YES !!!!! There is nothing like the smell of dead animals, or humans. But I can tell you this, a human body smells worse than any animal I have smelled, well so far !!!!! For the ones that have no way to pay for a decent funeral, that I can understand. But I have seen cases that people are just greedy and don't give a fuck. I know this much as fact, I really am not bullshiting you. This one guy was very sick, and was upward of 700 pounds. Well, his family members told him to his face, " As soon as you die, we are going to take you to someone and have that fat and shit lyposuctioned out of you, because we aint paying for two gaves to have your big ass buried. What you think about that ? Fucked up aint it ? He should have said !!!!

Re: Exhumations

A lot of people think there is a law that requires a grave to be 6 feet deep, but there isn't ( around here). Others think there is a law that the body must be embalmed, nope. However, if not embalmed, they must be buried within 24 hours. Example; say you have a family member who died from cancer, if the coroner declared him dead, you can bury him in nothing, just a sheet if you want to.

Go to youtube, look under exhumations. This one guy was buried 83 years ago. They open the vault and casket and he looks like.......I'll just let you see for yourself.

Re: Exhumations

Civil rights hero Medgar Evers was buried ???40??? years ago. He was exhumed for the trial of the man who killed him. He was preserved almost perfectly.

Re: Exhumations

Some other misunderstandings are that your hair and fingernails keep growing after death. A dead body dehydrates everywhere, and as a result, your skin shrinks some what, making people think your hair/fingernails had grown.
