There were a string of robberies by people that may have looked similar to Martin. Zimmerman was annoyed that these guys were always getting away with it. He called the police who said an officer was on the way. Trying to locate Martin so he could tell the cops..they ran into each other. Martin believed he had to defend himself and attacked Zimmerman. Zimmerman escalated it because he too had to defend himself.

I don't think this case has anything to do about race other than the news and public trying to start drama between groups. Zimmerman was profiling Martin based on recent burglaries but that doesn't mean he was a racist or this was a hate crime. They both made poor decisions..Zimmerman should have waited for police and Martin should have fled. I can understand why each made the decision they did but there were better ones to choose from.

Zimmerman is more to blame than Martin but it was still self defense. If Martin killed Zimmerman, it would have been self defense.
Martin had his life taken away too early. I don't think Zimmerman is someone to fear or that should spend the rest of his life in jail. Having to worry about people trying to find him and living with his decision that night for the rest of his life are enough.


I'm more upset that public is putting so much into this. There are far worse cases and other things to be more concerned about but we don't see protests or the kind of support this has received. But when people watch mainstream media that comes from only a couple sources..what can you expect

I really wish everyone would take note, of how confrontational stocking some is, as shown by this case. Zimmerman might as well have flung the 1st blow. with his stocking.

It is not against the law to follow a suspicious person. Heck, it's not even against the law to walk up to a suspicious person, to ask what they are doing (if done in a non-threatening way). And a person has no legal obligation to listen to a 911 dispatcher. They are NOT the police.

Zimmerman might have been following Martin, but there is no proof his end goal was ever to approach him. He was following him to keep a visual so that the police, whom he called, could question Martin. Seems within reason to me, for a neighborhood watch captain.

From the evidence we have all been privy to, it sure seems like Martin got away, circled back around, and jumped Martin. THAT was the first crime committed. And at that point, Zimmerman has the right to defend himself.

Those making this out to be about race, or black america are foolish. The rallies, the rioting, it's all ridiculously stupid. All those bringing up Stand Your Ground, equally ridiculous. This wasn't a SYG defense. It was a self defense, defense.

Because I see little difference between detain and kidnap. At least for the point of view of a child who already is thinking Zimmerman was creepy.

Lets be sure you keep it in context here since your so keen on spotting differences. Martin called Zimmerman a "creepy ass cracka". As testified by the star witness. Also was called either a " *****" or "******" couldn't tell which she was testifying to.

Well, first off..stalk, stalked, stalking, stalker.

Let me get this straight..you're changing the scenario from being about a guy following a guy that is suspicious and resembles a person that has been committing crimes in his neighborhood..to be about a guy stalking a girl to rape her because of her race?

I sure don't tell women to be afraid of someone because of their race or that because you see someone a couple times they're out to rape you. We need to teach people just because something happens that involves people from different races, doesn't automatically mean it was racially motivated or a hate crime. Racism exists because people choose for it to.

Wow! I never knew stocking anything could become such a heated sociopolitical topic. I guess the next time I stock up on garbage bags, I better stock the boxes of white kitchen bags and the boxes of black liner garbage bags in seperate but equal cabinets.
