Re: Trayvon Martin Crime Scene Photos
No, it was in an interview after it all happened. It just made me lose any respect for his position. Even if his whole story were true, it's still HIS fault, every part of it, but a normal person would feel like they would have avoided the whole thing if they could go back. Being a carrier myself, I just can't imagine feeling that way. I could understand if he said "In the moment I thought I was right, but if I could go back I would have just stayed back as my training/the operator instructed me to do". Agreed. People on both sides should learn from it. But for those of us who carry, it should reinforce what we were already taught, that it's our responsibility to do everything we can to avoid being in a situation like that when carrying. It's not the "suspect"/victim's duty to avoid you, it's your duty to avoid creating that situation. Even if Martin was known to have robbed someone, even if Zimmerman had just seen him beat the holy fuck out of somebody and he was running away, it's still his duty to avoid getting into a confrontation when carrying. You carry for self defense, not to be some kind of pseudo cop. Calling the police was right, everything else he did after was wrong and it all is on his shoulders. Time will tell if we have a jury that lets him slide away from any responsibility like Casey Anthony, but even if they make that huge error, we should all still learn from the case and his wrongdoing. Edit: In this case, I think showing remorse would be prudent and probably helpful. It would demonstrate that he knew he did the wrong thing. It's already a given he was wrong, and made every possible mistake in judgement that night. The question is should he be found guilty and punished for it... Remorse can be helpful there. There's no question he shot Martin. Remorse would further his cause imo, so his counsel would be kind of stupid to suggest he not show it if that were the case. |

Re: Trayvon Martin Crime Scene Photos
I know which interview you're talking about, and Zimmerman was coached by his attorney to say that. They were actually sitting right next to each other. He switches his answers around, halfway through, and says he regrets that Martin lost his life. George%20Zimmerman%20FOX%20Interview_%20Says%20Shooting%20Was%20%27God%27s%20Plan%27%20to%20Sean.mp4 |

Re: Trayvon Martin Crime Scene Photos
I don't want to sound preachy, but when a person makes slanderous accusations, out of context and without evidence, it shows a strong bias. That's what the press did, they assumed they were so righteous in their characterization of Zimmerman that they no longer needed the burden of proof.

Re: Trayvon Martin Crime Scene Photos
I'd never seen this interview. I don't care if he was being coached or not, saying it was all a part of God's plan is fucked up...... Trying to gain the sympathy of his potential Jury pool in the South no doubt. |

Re: Trayvon Martin Crime Scene Photos
I don't see how any decent human being couldn't feel remorse. Well, you know what they say, the truth is somewhere in the middle of all this testimony. I don't think we'll ever know everything that happened that afternoon and that's why I don't like the Media, they made the story as big and as ugly as they could to drive ratings. It's been hard to get a clear picture of what really happened with all the mud slinging and "political" angles being played, been nice to have let the investigators work undisturbed on it and present their un biased findings |

Re: Trayvon Martin Crime Scene Photos
Florida does it again! A-la Casey Anthony, a clear cut manslaughter is wiped clean, justice miscarried... Edit: Naturally the verdict must be respected, but seriously, what the fuck is up with Floridians and clear cut cases with nothing but evidence showing guilt? Those 6 women set a dangerous precedent tonight, we CCW folks have a duty to make sure no more Zimmerman incidents happen even though the system just said it's totally legit to seek conflict, and kill someone when you start losing. |

Re: Trayvon Martin Crime Scene Photos
More than enough, especially for manslaughter. Never for MURDER, but hey... jury just didn't see it that way. Has to be respected, like the Anthony verdict, but no one is wrong to be unhappy about it. Feel bad for Martin's family, and for Zimmerman's family with all he has caused them to go through so far, and will continue to go through after all this.

Re: Trayvon Martin Crime Scene Photos
His family can still file a civil suit for a wrongful death. That's what Nicole Browns family did after the charges on O.J were dropped. They won, too. It was still terribly sad, but that's the closest thing they got to closure- public recognition of his guilt. (What they did NOT get was a ton of money. OJs wealth was already depleted from his first battle with the courts and most of the rest was divvied up in the form child support) |
