I always wondered why with all the helicopter activity why some of the folks on top of the trade centers were not saved.Guess it was more important to catch the moment in time than to save a life..Oh and they could have landed a chopper on top..It was done many times before..Just a thought...

Nope, the fire was wayyy too close to the roof for a safe landing in both cases - structeral integrity would have immidiately been questioned, justifiably as it turned out

Well, the doors to the roof were locked for one thing. So no helicopters. From what I have read, the jumpers would reach a terminal velocity of 150 MPH. The fall would last 10 seconds, with the impact causing total liquifaction of soft tissues. The jumper would be conscious the entire way down. The death certificates for all 200 of the jumpers read "homicide" as they were not geniune "suicides" but rather people in impossible situations. One of the jumpers killed a fireman upon impact. An important thing to note is that the sight of the jumpers caused many in the other tower to evacuate; therefore they actually saved lives. |

Seth Macfarlane, creator of Family Guy was supposed to be on one of those planes. His secretary told him the wrong departure time, and he missed the flight. I wonder if he gave her a raise instead of firing her? |

I saw a higher up in the Fire Department being interviewed about this. At one time they used to attempt roof top rescues, but it is now against policy. During the interview he even said that it needs to be made clear to people that heading for the roof is a bad idea. |
