They don't know that it caused the killings or even any mental disorder. He had written a suicide note before the spree asking for an autopsy and an exam on his brain to see if there was something wrong that caused him to do this. They found a tumor, but like I said, they have no way of knowing if that is what caused his insanity.

It's really not hard to do. Marines have to qualify at the 500 meter line with an M14 at that time. A six foot target is the size of a head of a pin. I was in in 1967-1971. I found it interesting that Whitman's mental problem was not noticeable and addressed during his enlistment. Very sad for all concerned, especially the innocents.

Charles Whitman killed 16 people and wounded 32 others during a shooting rampage on and around the university's campus on Aug. 1, 1966. He was shot three times with a 12-gauge on his upper torso by the police.  I tried to search this on the forums but didn't found.  · |
