Thelma Todd, Morgue Image
The death of Thelma Todd, a popular actress known for her roles in comedic films during the late 1920s and early 1930s, remains one of Hollywood's most enduring mysteries. Todd was found dead in her car inside a garage on December 16, 1935, in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 29. Thelma Todd, nicknamed "The Ice Cream Blonde," was a renowned actress of her time, starring in over 40 films and working with notable figures like the Marx Brothers and Laurel and Hardy. Her death was initially thought to be a suicide or accident, but subsequent investigations raised suspicions of foul play. The official cause of death was determined to be carbon monoxide poisoning. Todd was found in her car with the engine off, but the coroner noted a high level of carbon monoxide in her bloodstream. This led to theories that she had been locked in the garage and left to die, though no concrete evidence was found to support foul play. Several theories circulated about her death, including murder, accidental carbon monoxide poisoning, and suicide. Rumors suggested involvement with organized crime figures or a dispute with her business partner, as Todd co-owned a popular restaurant and nightclub called Thelma Todd's Sidewalk Café. Despite extensive investigations by the police, the circumstances surrounding Thelma Todd's death remain unclear. No one was ever charged in connection with her death, and it was officially ruled as accidental by the coroner's office. However, the lack of definitive answers has kept the case a topic of speculation and intrigue in Hollywood lore. |

Re: Thelma Todd, Morgue Image
from that: "Todd's body was cremated. After her mother's death in 1969, Todd's remains were placed in her mother's casket and buried in Bellevue Cemetery in her hometown of Lawrence, Massachusetts." That's really sad. |

Re: Thelma Todd, Morgue Image
I have a book called "The Hollywood Book Of Death" that has bios of several different stars and is divided into sections with regards to how they died. Thelma's death is in the "Puzzling Deaths" sections because there are too many factors that would make one question whether or not it was really a suicide.
