Re: Tony Stewart Kills Driver on Sprint Car Track

You guys defending Stewart are a bunch of fucking idiots. 1) when there is a yellow flag, which was very visible to all drivers, you go low on the track. 2) if he didn't see the yellow he definitely saw the cars in front of him go low 3)For those saying the visibility is poor inside those cars, wrong. They couldn't race at 150+ if they were. 4) Stewart is know to be a hot head and has threatened to run down drivers before. 5) yes, those cars do handle like shit, but wouldn't a professional like tony Stewart understand and know how to use that to his ability? Like when passing another car in heavy lapped traffic. 6) WATCH THE FUCKING VIDEO AGAIN!
There's no "go low on yellows" rule. The visibility is poor. Your head movement is also limited. Stewart misjudged the move he made on Ward that caused the accident in the first place. How many sprint car races have you seen?

And yet, no mention of the retard who exited his car and walked right in front of all the others.

Oh yeah I was born and raised in San Diego and still live here so your assumption is wrong.

He steered directly into the guy, out of anger. It couldn't be any clearer.

Re: Tony Stewart Kills Driver on Sprint Car Track

I really think Stewart was attempting to "buzz" the kid and give Ward a little scare and his "Tony Stewart moment." I've driven these types of cars on a dirt track before and if you hit the gas and turn to the right you can throw a little dirt "rooster tail" off the right rear tire, I think Stewart was trying to scare/spray Ward with dirt. Ward was so close to the car that when Stewart went to scare him the car and Ward collided. Again, this is only my opinion from watching the video and having driven these cars before. I am also a long time NASCAR fan and I think Stewart's personality may have played a part in this accident. I am neither a fan or a hater of Stewart. If my theory is correct then I think Stewart needs to step up and admit to what he did, but I really doubt that will happen.

Re: Tony Stewart Kills Driver on Sprint Car Track

I'm reading through these posts, at the moment I can't see my post count. This may be my very first one on here. This is the last place for a rant on this topic to make any difference. And my argument here will make no difference to anyone, ever. But I'm going to say it anyway because I'm sick and tired of reading all of the posts from the know-it-alls about this incident, maybe I'll feel better. I haven't read all of the posts, nor do I plan to. I read just enough of them to get the idea that its the same back and forth BS as all the other comments sections where this same video is posted.

I used to own one of these cars. Built it myself. Do any of you have any idea how any part of these machines function? There's no clutch, no transmission, no neutral. It is push started at the end of the race. To stop the car, you quickly rack the throttle while pulling a lever to disengage the rear end (such as the noise heard in the video). I'm not claiming thats what the noise was that you heard, simply stating a procedure with the car. I don't know if thats what Stewart was doing, I don't even know if the sound was from his car. And neither does anyone else! Next, everyone claims to know where he was aiming the car, steering towards the kid, whatever. Look at one of these cars sitting still. They are designed with a very definitive rake, leaning hard forward and left. They go in one direction all the time, hard left. These cars don't steer ANYTHING like what any of you are used to. The rear tires are always spinning. Its more like drifting than anything else. Also, do any of you have any idea how big the tires are? Even though they spin, ALOT, they are designed for ALOT of traction. Thats why when one car touches another, one of them almost always flips. Thats because the tires touched. Notice, the tires stick out farther than anything else. Whether stewart did it on purpose or not, he didn't likely "hit him with the car". The kid probably found himself STUCK to the damn tire. Along with that point, do any of you have any idea how big the wing is? Its very cumbersome. Not only is it wide, but the side "flaps" are very protrusive, sticking up and down farther than you would ever expect. Even knowing the car like the back of my hand, and knowing that the wing was there, I would always stand up into it while working on the car. Look closely and you'll see the kid pinballing between the tire and wing.

I don't mean to offend anyone. My heart goes out to the family. Its a tragic ordeal. The kid was a hothead. So is Stewart. But nobody has any right to point blame. Even if it goes to court and stewart is found guilty of anything, I'm going to have a hard time swallowing it. Even having owned one of these cars, I couldn't tell you whether or not he did it on purpose. The car isn't designed to go at lower speeds. Its only designed to haul ass in a circle. At low speeds, trying to keep it in a straight line, or direct it in a particular path (such as avoiding, or hitting someone) is much more difficult than any of you could imagine. I'm not saying its impossible either way, but not predictable enough to say "Oh, he definately did it!"

Think before you judge. Then think again

/end rant
for now...

Re: Tony Stewart Kills Driver on Sprint Car Track

Sorry, don't know how to edit. I meant to say the car is push started at the "beginning" of the race. Meaning, no starter. Its direct drive. No control over starting and stopping. Either "pop" it out of gear like I said, or shut the whole thing down and slide to a halt uncontrollably.

Also forgot to mention, whether he did it on purpose or not. You Never, Ever, EVER get out of your car!!! Unless your on fire. And then, you run to the wall, not into oncoming traffic. This kid, being a "trained" sprint car driver, knows this even better than anyone thats simply using common sense. If there were a sprint car racing bible, it would be in it. Figured I would add that in there too
