Re: Tony Stewart Kills Driver on Sprint Car Track
Think about it. This whole thing happened in approximately 30 seconds. You're racing hard and see the caution light comes on. You're told via radio caution is out. You start backing it down and take the caution flag at the stand and start forming into line to get behind the safety car. Next you hear on the radio the driver is out of his car. 5 seconds later you hit him. Do you seriously think Tony formulated a plan in his head to get back at this kid and run him over in the 5 seconds Tony had to think about it. This is what I know from first hand knowledge of the situation. Tony didn't even know the caution was out for wards spin. All he knew was the caution came out and was told via radio almost immediately it was out. Until they take the caution they are still going pretty fast until they get back to the stand, take the caution flag and start forming a line to get behind the safety car. The next radio chatter was that the driver was out of his car. Tony had taken the flag at the stand and was inline and was slowing. Tony had no idea it was Ward on the track looking for him. It was a stupid move that caused that driver his life and he and only he his to blame. |

Re: Tony Stewart Kills Driver on Sprint Car Track
You may be a marine engineer, but you don't know shit about sprint cars. These cars are designed to turn left. Vision to the right is obstructed by the wing. Drivers only need to see to the left and forward while racing anyway. You sight a similar incident yet it took place by a boat in water! This is similar how? This was an unfortunate accident. Racing is dangerous. Go to the actual races sometime and see for yourself. Its different than when you and your homies play it on X box. There are better examples of this video on other sites.

Re: Tony Stewart Kills Driver on Sprint Car Track
My father raced for many years, starting in the late sixties and was good enough that he nearly missed an opportunity to make it in NASCAR as it was just developing into a popular sport. He's not a Tony Stewart fan at all, but his assessment is the following: He beleives that from what he knows of Stewart, there's no way Stewart, or hardly any other drive would intentionally run down another driver. Rather what he believes is that Stewart gunned the engine and spun his steering wheel in an attempt to kick the rear of his car out and throw dirt on the younger driver as he went by as an added insult to the kid. My father and I don't agree on much, but this theory is the easiest to believe, and most plausible IMO.
