According to the police, Alessandro, who worked as a security guard, was returning to his workplace to return the motorcycle he was using, when he was hit in the neck by the kite line during the journey. Re: Performing the Last Rites on Biker Whose Neck Was Slit By Kite Line

Those who have been on this site for a while will know just how deadly kite flying - a popular pastime amongst Brazilian youth - can be for motorcyclists.

'Chilean wire' is four times sharper than cerol (also known as manja), an already abrasive type of kite wire used in flying contests. The lines are coated with an abrasive in order to cut the lines of other kites during the pastime of 'kite fighting'. It appears in this case that the kite was ‘lost’ and ended up going astray on the road.

I imagine if the line initially hits a helmet it can go either way; down to your neck or over your head. A game of millimeters.

One of the most wholesome things I've seen on this site. It almost gives me hope for humanity.

Almost.

Agree 100%. That was very moving. A dying man with his hands folded in inner prayer, to then be given last rites by a passerby. Wow.

Re: Performing the Last Rites on Biker Whose Neck Was Slit By Kite Line

I can't help but wonder whether his piety was what ultimately attracted (in some divine or cosmic manner) this man - the one recording, to give him his last rites in an otherwise completely random and chaotic freak accident.

So many other videos on here just show people dying - for the most part completely alone, despite being surrounded by an entire crowd who are just staring and recording their last moments on this earth (or even taking a selfie-video), yet this man who instinctively folded his hands together in prayer at the time of death, had another (pious) person to see him on his way out.

What are the odds?

Re: Performing the Last Rites on Biker Whose Neck Was Slit By Kite Line

If the guy was so “pious” then why the fuck does he hold his phone up to record what should be “last rights” over a dying young man!?!
Fuck me and my opinion. If he was really a “true” man of god then he might have turned his phone off for the last few moments of that poor guys life while he really prayed instead of recording the guy dying and himself praying with one hand while holding the phone with his other to show others how good of a person he is.

Fuck the dumb shit.
