The woman was riding her bike and going over a bridge when somehow she got her neck caught in a wax kite line which severed her throat.

The wax is applied directly on the line to be used for flying the kite. The glue serves as a binder, while iron or glass powder serves as an abrasive. The result is an extremely sharp line.

That is the second lady killed by a kite string on a motorcycle on DR. I seem to remember the first one was in Brazil. Heck of a way to go, I wonder if she was stumbling around clutching her neck on the road or just collapsed...
