Re: Officer-involved Fatal Shooting in Downtown Louisville

I always stick up for police BUT this asshole cop wanted to shoot this guy the second he pulled out his gun and was just waiting for a excuse to fire. Not only was it unnecessary but he could have killed his partner.
You right.

Re: Officer-involved Fatal Shooting in Downtown Louisville

Not a good shoot simply from a safety viewpoint he very nearly killed the other officer. They weren't working together one officer was trying to take the guy to the ground when the other officer decided to shoot him. Should have worked together if you are going to shoot him back off and shoot him if you are going to bring him to the ground both cops close in and put him on the ground without allowing him to draw or use any weapons.

Here come the Monday morning quarterback combat experts judging from their computer screen. It is really easy to proclaim what should have been done when you don't have death looming over you based on a split second decision. But I guess it is easy for all the internet commandos on here.

Re: Officer-involved Fatal Shooting in Downtown Louisville

Is calling someone a "motherfucker" a good strategy for conflict de-escalation?
Actually, yes, in law enforment situations like this, it is a reasonable strategy. This is not customer service dealing w angry customers, it is police dealing with violent threats. Intimidation is a powerful tool to neutralize threats.

What you think the hardened violent criminal will do when he is nicely asked to please stop what he is doing so he can be arrested?....will he comply, or will he more likely interpret the softness and kindness in the police as a weakness to be taken advantage of in resisting arrest?

Cops need to make their commands with authority and intimidation, like how a rattle snake rattles to let you know you better back off or he might kill you.

What words could be more intimidating than a gun being pointed at you?
Giving commands with authority is one thing, but using offensive language makes the cop look weak (he doesn't trust his authority so he curses at you like a desperate lady.)
An alpha male doesn't threatens with curses but with firm words being properly articulated saying for example STOP OR I'LL SHOOT!. (showing he's in control.)

Words that make you sound like you are serious and angry and ready to actually shoot to kill you if person you are pointing your gun at does not take take you seriously.

Everybody has their own style, profanity is not necessary, but you can't deny it is effective at getting an intimidating point across as briefly as possible.

"Freeze motherfucker"
(I am not your friend, I am telling you what to do now, you better stop what you are doing)

"Or I will shoot you"

Re: Officer-involved Fatal Shooting in Downtown Louisville

Well I totally agree he told him he was going to shoot him before it happened, but did he really need to pull his pistol instead of his taser? I mean if he would have tased the guy right when he came around the corner It would’ve been over with. Cops in this country are so trigger-happy. Then again motherfucker should’ve listen. If someone is telling me to get on the ground especially A cop and they got their gun drawn I’m doing it.
Chances of a taser working on someone with a hoodie on is probably less than 10%

Re: Officer-involved Fatal Shooting in Downtown Louisville

Damn why didnt he just comply and after a quick check hed bw on his way. Its like the guy had some retarded gene which doesnt allow them to follow simple instructions when someone has a gun pointed at you. I just dont understand.
Ive never seen this before where some gentleman who looked like he was out for a jog got shot for not complying to lawful orders for an id check. Seems very unproductive to act like a buffoon when everyone knows the situation..the public are cretins and the cops are on edge. So yeh i think it would he best just to pretend to comply and get on with your day without any lead in your body.
