It's always easy to second guess people's actions during such events, but one thing I've seen consistently in similar shootings is this: If you're going to confront the shooter, confront them with a hail of lead. There is plenty of time for talking later.

That hitman or whatever he was took it from two other people with guns. There is another customer in the background that fires a shot striking the original shooter just as the wounded customer is returning fire.

Not to mention the hitman catches a ton of falling broken glass from the shattered window right across the upper legs where two major arteries are.
The glass shattered. It’s not as cool as you think it is.

After all, the guy that just committed a murder is totally innocent because the dude he killed called him bad names.
