Re: Fiery Crash Between Motorcycle and Honda in Louisiana - Two Dead
Yeah this thread basically devolved into “motorcycles, bad…car drivers good” Asshole and idiot drivers are everywhere and use every form of transportation. It’s the jacked up trucks you gotta watch for. You can spot them in your rear view mirror a mile away and nearly always predict what they will do (fly up behind you and ride that ass) I spent several months working at harborview ER during my training. At the time (it might still be) it was the only level I trauma and burn center servicing Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Alaska. I saw some fucked up shit in those few months. I saw FAR more car vs car and car vs pedestrian than I ever did motorcycle accidents. Don’t get me wrong, I did see some bad motorcycle wrecks, but 4-wheeled vehicle drivers are just as bad as motorcycle riders in every way. |

If the car was that fucked up, imagine what that impact with all that momentum did to that body. Even if pulled from the fire, seems to me like best case scenario, she would be one of those DOA cases at the hospital, or those that die after a couple of days. But |

We have different opinions about this. I was happy they backed up and provided a wider view of the scene. They were also keeping the fire away from their own car and giving the emergency vehicles more room to approach and do their work. I just wish all of the aftermath had been recorded and made available as well. Also, there's no way in hell they backed up 300 feet.

Re: Fiery Crash Between Motorcycle and Honda in Louisiana - Two Dead
Oh God how awful, neither of them stood a chance! About 15 years ago I came up on a 2 car accident. In one car the driver was a young lady, her passenger I believe was her boyfriend. I got out of my car to see if I could help. I'm a surgical ICU nurse and I see a lot of trauma cases, so I knew that nobody's injuries were survivable, including the guy in the other car. Anyway, there were two other people who stopped. One lady said "We need to get out of here, the car is going to blow!" Right before I got back to my car, the car started on fire. I'll never forget the vision of the car on fire and that girl's long hair hanging out of her window. She was beyond saving, but it still hit me pretty hard. |

Perhaps if he wasn’t speeding like a maniac, they could have survived. Given them both an opportunity to reactThere’s a reason for a speed limit. That people tend to consistently ignore it doesn’t mean shit. |
