Some of the people that died could very well have been evacuating as quickly as possible. The fire was moving as quickly as 80 acres a minute at some points the day and evening it started. It went from 200 to 20,000 acres burnt/damaged over night. I'm sure the death toll is going to get much higher.  |

Reminds me of the footage I saw of the fires in Australia back in 2009 170 people died. People died when trying to flee and crashed their cars.. all dead. Sad but amazing video.

I can't understand the mindset of people who choose to ride a hurricane out due to the fear of being looted. I wouldn't have the balls to do it myself, fuck the belongings, but a fire you can't "ride out". My chicken shit ass would have been headed for a cheap motel well out of the path of this beast.

This Camp fire area is where I would go to hunt, fish and camp since we came to pioneer Northern California since 1855. I am afraid to know how many people I know who lost everything, including their lives. It was such a beautiful and untouched spots in Nor. Cal. We never bought property there for the obvious reasons you see in this video. It should be a lesson for everyone on this planet. Never build towns in areas that should remain forest lands. Also, having to use a respirator to breath 50 miles is more than a little bothersome because the air quality here in the Sacramento is the worst it has ever been. |
