This is largely the fault of whoever gave this arrogant cunt and her 110lb teenage son the authority/responsibility of taking a big strong man back into custody. There is no excuse for engaging in a potential confrontation like this without 2-3 big grown men available to force compliance if necessary. With adequate show of force there is often no need for actual violence because the suspect realizes they are overpowered and can surrender without really losing face. As for laws and justice most jurisdictions have multiple deadly force laws for various circumstances and there is a persistent doctrine that it is OK for a custodial officer/ prison guard/bondsman to shoot a "fleeing felon" in the back to prevent their escape. State laws vary considerably and are changing but it is fairly clear that the people in charge of this case believed in the "fleeing felon" justification for shooting someone in the back even if it isn't spelled out in the state's deadly force laws. The use of lethal force to bring someone into custody is a complicated topic and the relevant laws and civil liabilities are a minefield of confusion and obsolete doctrines. The US desperately needs a uniform federal law protecting people in all 50 states from excessive use of force as seen here. |

To my knowledge, in the US anyway, they do not have the right to use deadly force unless the person is a threat. Just like anyone else. She was abusing her limited authority. Thanks
