You know...I think you're right. There's very specific language in the Federal law that prohibits only a specific type of flamethrower for civilian ownership/possession. I'm guessing it might have something to do with propellent and/or range. The one's they use for brushfires kinda drip out the flames and throws them only about a couple of feet. Not sure about the sugar cane fires, but I thought they used drip cans as well. You'd think there would be enough good reasons to own one that they wouldn't be entirely outlawed...especially on a farm or in industrial settings.

They're legal to own here in Australia if you can get a permit for one, but you need to have a real good reason. Just wanting one cause they're cool is not good enough. Yes drip cans are used because they are more easily available and don't require any sort of permit as long as they don't squirt more than a few feet. |

Most people think all weapons are illegal here but they are wrong. Firearms and other dangerous weapons are just restricted to those that can get permits. Getting a permit for anything more fun than a bolt action rifle is tough. You can own a rocket launcher here if you can get the permit.

It's mainly just Parisians that are arrogant wankers. Most French people in smaller towns and cities are generally quite friendly. That's just from my experience though. The most arrogant and rude people I've ever met outside of the UK have all been Israeli. They're pushy, shovey, misogynists, and argumentative. I've nothing against Jews, but the ones I've met from Israel have a massive superiority complex. |

Like a bus full of orphans and nuns? Sorry...I couldn't resist. It's been years since I made an orphan and nun joke. I would love to shoot one of the WWII flamethrowers just to see what it's like. I've heard they're sort of dangerous...even on a good day. Can you imagine doing a raid on some hapless bad guy's drug den? Knock knock... Who's there? Mr. Flame... Mr. Flame who? Whoosh...ahhhhhh!
