I had an extremely low self esteem like he did, but never had anything even close to his bumptious narcissistic mannerisms. A few months or so after my high school graduation, I guess I had had enough and sought counseling.

I was a late starter too, but I guess 19 years old is better than never. I was hanging out with a few friends at an aquaintence's house and I saw this girl I barely knew there, walked up to her, started kissing her, then a few minutes later we excused ourselves and went her place. That was it, totally unexpected. I was feeling a good buzz from a joint I had earlier, but otherwise sober for the most part so no liquid courage to fuel the desire. Guess for some strange reason I just said "fuck it" and went for it, completely uncharacteristic of me, even to this day. But, for whatever it was worth, that one-night stand didn't strain my neck or leave me feeling violated.

I would have missed out on so many things life has to offer and all the joy I would eventually experience from it had I went down Elliot's path. I'm also glad I choose not to.

It seemed Elliot wanted a certain type and according to the show, never really gave anyone else a chance.

I think we all have that, "perfect type," we'd like in our minds, but, sometimes, the personality and sense of humor take over and that makes someone appealing to me.

Confidence is also very appealing, too. Since you didn't overthink the situation on that particular night, it went well for you.

What I found weird about Elliot is, he had Asian roommates, but, didn't like seeing a white female with an Asian male.
