Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread V
Responding to this which started in the media thread. I think the way Skorpion phrased it made it sound even more dire than it may be. The situation is not good by any means but Russians clearly do not have physical "control" over the highway into Bakhmut. That is certain. But what they do have as Skorpion mentioned, is at least some level of fire control over the highway. Because Ukrainian ammunition, equipment and vehicles are clearly getting into the town, one can conclude that whatever Russian fire control they have over the highway, or other roads, is ineffective. The Russian units who have been trying to close the gap into these roads are the ones who have been constantly attacked by limited Ukrainian counterattacks these past weeks... but this is still a highly fluid situation that can change drastically over only a few hours. I think the ZSU is confident they can continue to bleed RU forces until it's absolutely necessary to get out. It's no secret how bad RU forces want this town - and they're paying for every inch, just like Severodonyetsk in the summer - Russia taking that town was akin to impaling themselves on a spike. They never took another town that size again, half a year later. |

Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread V
"Bleed them Out" is a good term to use in this instance & I believe that the UAF realize that the orcs have a serious hard on for Bakhmut & are using that against them by harvesting as many orcs as possible in this concentrated area as they know the lay of the land better & because of this would have their fields of fire worked out just fine to keep plugging away, bit by bit at them, when they choose to do so. I also wouldn't be surprised if they opened up small areas from time to time to draw the orcs in before opening up as they would be controlling the influx of orcs & making their munitions much effective as there would be a more of a concentrated number of orcs in these openings for harvesting & in turn a higher hit or kill ratio compared with normal bunker hitting operations as for the orcs to take the town they need to be on the offensive & as such, continually need to move forward on the entrenched positions of the UAF all the while being out in the open & getting absolutely smashed. IMO, for the UAF to use these factors against these invading fuckers is priceless ! |

Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread V
Ukraine is just another proxy war between Russia and the US. Russia will keep throwing bodies at it while the US will supply weapons. Meanwhile Ukraine is bombed back 50 years and their military numbers slowly whittled down until they ultimately capitulate to Russian demands.

Re: Russian/Ukraine War Discussion Thread V
A proxy war is when 2 sides fight using 2 other countries/factions to do the fighting o their behalf....without themselves taking part of the hostilities. Russia is actively taking part of this conflict, so, there is nothing proxy about Russian role in this war. US is just supporting its ally...same for Europe. |
