I worked with an ex Cop recently, and he struggled with even telling me about a situation where he had to pull his gun on a guy..... There were other situations he alluded to that he couldn't even talk about because it was too hard for him...... He'd seen the aftermath, he'd had to inform families, he saw the whole big picture of what happens when a person gets killed..... The idea of him even possibly having to shoot someone fucked him up severely.
