Re: Pictures & Videos From The Mass Shooting at Las Vegas Concert
Unfortunately you have no clue what the 2nd Amendment is really for. The irony is adorable.

Re: Pictures & Videos From The Mass Shooting at Las Vegas Concert
Are there any actual pics in this thread or is just the vids on pg 1? Just read 16pgs of arguing and cbf scouring through any more, so can someone save me the hassle & link to the post with the pics? |

Re: Pictures & Videos From The Mass Shooting at Las Vegas Concert
Lighting designer/director here with 4 years touring experience on multiple large tours and festivals like this. A bit late to the game here, but thought I'd chime in. This whole event sparked a really good and open conversation as to what to do as an LD if you ever find yourself in this spot. Everyone wants to think up some tactical response like aiming your movers at the shooter or something, but as unrealistic as it might sound, going full blinders, (like what this person did) is generally regarded as the best thing to do. In a mass shooting situation, the shooter is not taking precise shots, so lack of light is really not that big of a concern for them. People being able to see where they are going is the most important thing. The most dangerous thing to do in these situations is stay put and personally I'd fear that darkness could give people a false sense of security even if they may still be in harms way. I doubt very highly turning the lights off was an intentional choice in this situation. The area still isn't secured, it's still pretty chaotic, and I doubt the LD's first concern was to go secure his desk at FOH. There are a number of things that could've caused them to go off. Cable getting pulled, power to desk getting pulled, generator power pulled, etc etc. Also keep in mind that the second you do anything besides just turning lights up, you're opening yourself up for HUGE legal risk. If an LD really is turning things on and off in an attempt to respond tactically, the personal and professional liability is immense.
