For those who say "...should've complied...": Has anyone here ever had to live with or near an unmedicated paranoid/hallucinating schizophrenic? It's god-fucking-awful, and there is no magically snapping them back in to reality. My neighbor in the apartment downstairs is a paranoid schizophrenic. He has delusions of grandeur and persecution; he does not hallucinate. He's alright on his Zyprexa; if he's off it for more than four days, a shitstorm of paranoid delusions starts and it's hard for me to even get him in to see his damn psychiatrist. Along with the schizophrenics whose (Social Security Disability) cases I've worked and the others whom I've known personally over the last few years or so, he CAN'T be reasoned with at ALL. That's why they call them "delusions." It's hard to get a hallucinating or delusional person to comply, regardless of whether they're schizophrenic, intoxicated, etc. You can sometimes tell when a person is truly mentally ill and--in Kelly Thomas's case--floridly psychotic. True schizophrenic symptoms are hard to fake. Any rational person, even in the heat of the moment, should be able to see that this is a situation that does NOT necessitate beating the subject to death. Not that anything really does, but I think I've made my point. |

I know this is common knowledge to those following along with this case, but the two idiots who stood trial for the beating death of this poor man were acquitted a couple of weeks ago. The other officer awaiting trial had all charges dropped since it appears there are no intelligent jurors in the area of Fullerton, California. This whole case disgusts me - and I'm a cop. The one fat bastard who started the whole thing is now appealing to get his job back! |

Fucking pigs. The guy was BEGGING FOR HIS LIFE. They could have cuffed his ankles and he wouldn't have been able to run anywhere until they got a less violent way of taking him into custody. He wasn't doing anything and that fat bastard cop accosted him. He just needed medical help, not a death sentence.  |

... and this is why I dislike those fucking assholes, using their authority/power for bullshit like this. They're just pumped with adrenaline and testosterone trying to act all hard hoping for a day like this where they can abuse their power to what? to dominate? to prove you're powerful? Ya ok, there may be SOME ok cops but a big chunk of them are like these pigs. Police brutality...
