Ritchie Valens. To his right is Buddy and way over the fence is the Big Bopper. Pilot was still trapped in the plane.

Interesting thing about Richie Valenz was in his personal effects noted by the coroner, was $22.15 in cash, less of course 11.65 of it for coroner fees: Inquest or investigation, including return $10. $10.00 Mileage, 7¢ per mile, not automobile exp. .65 Docket case $1. $1.00 Total coroner fees $11.65 |

I live in Clear Lake, about a mile from the Surf. A few months back I had to work at a meeting there and took these pictures. The first is J.P Richardson's briefcase and 2 song books recovered from the plane crash. The second is the Western Union telegram from Elvis and Col. Parker to the J.P Richardson's family.   |
