Jessica Chambers Murder
On the evening of December 6, 2014, Jessica Chambers was found near her burning car on a rural road in Courtland. She had been severely burned over most of her body. First responders were horrified by the scene; Jessica was still alive but in a critical condition, suffering from burns to over 90% of her body. Despite the excruciating pain, she was able to communicate with the first responders, although there were conflicting reports about what she was able to convey. Tragically, Jessica succumbed to her injuries and passed away shortly after being airlifted to a Memphis hospital. The investigation into Jessica's murder was extensive and challenging. The brutality of the crime shook the small community and garnered national attention. Law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, were involved in the case, trying to piece together the last hours of Jessica's life and identify a suspect. Surveillance videos, cell phone data, and interviews were meticulously analyzed to construct a timeline of her activities before the attack. The case took a significant turn in February 2016 when Quinton Tellis, a local man with a criminal history, was charged with Jessica's murder. The prosecution's case against Tellis was largely circumstantial, hinging on cell phone data that placed him with Jessica shortly before the murder, and statements from Tellis that investigators claimed were inconsistent. However, the case was complicated by the lack of direct evidence linking Tellis to the crime and the ambiguity surrounding Jessica's last words to first responders. Tellis faced trial twice, in 2017 and 2018. Both trials were marked by intense media scrutiny and public interest. In each trial, the jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict, resulting in a mistrial. The prosecution's case was hampered by the challenges in interpreting the severely injured Jessica's last words and the lack of direct physical evidence tying Tellis to the crime. These are some of the crime scene photos that were shown at her trial. |

Maybe they're aiming to shock the viewers by displaying the brutality of the crime, in which case, I applaud that move. |

Re: Jessica Chambers Murder
So much attention being payed to her saying "Eric", may cost them in finding the murderer, and does take away from the killer being Tellis. ER nurse forever, and have seen some terrible burns. This girl had accelerant poured down her throat plus a very hot fire - her vocal cords could not have escaped severe damage. Most burn victims have damaged vocal cords. They will try to speak, but very little if any is recognizable - it is mostly rasps, chokes and gutteral utterances. I very much doubt this poor girl said "Eric". Her injuries are all high level, 2nd degree, 3rd and deep 3rd to 4th on her chin and portions of the upper chest. EMS may have heard 'Eric", but it may have just have sounded that way. Before he was intubated, a man we had with severe burns, kept making a 'paku" over and over, a name, who knows - his wife's name was Paula - her name? Will never know, she was a widow within hours.
