The sinking of the RMS Titanic, one of the most catastrophic maritime disasters in history, occurred on the night of April 14 to the early morning of April 15, 1912. The British passenger liner, operated by the White Star Line, struck an iceberg during her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York City. This tragic event led to the deaths of more than 1,500 passengers and crew, making it one of the deadliest peacetime maritime disasters.

The Titanic, celebrated as the largest and most luxurious ship of its time, was touted as "unsinkable" due to its advanced safety features, including watertight compartments and remotely activated watertight doors. However, the collision with the iceberg caused the ship's hull plates to buckle, allowing water to flood into the vessel.

The disaster was exacerbated by a lack of sufficient lifeboats for all passengers and crew aboard. Although the Titanic exceeded the maritime safety regulations of the time, it only carried lifeboats for about half of its total capacity. This shortfall contributed significantly to the high number of fatalities when the ship sank.

After ages spent trawling through many, many sites, I could only find these small amount of images of some poor souls who perished when the unsinkable sank on April 14th, 1912.
