Re: Chinese Man Trapped in Car Drowns in Lake
I have several kinds small window breakers like they have on Microtech knives, for example, but in this situation I would reach for the 24" pry bar I have under my drivers seat.

Re: Chinese Man Trapped in Car Drowns in Lake
When the car was fully flooded, and he was starting to gasp for air, is when he should have opened the car door and swum to the surface. Less yelling, and more effective actions would have helped him out considerably. I would have unbuckled my seat belt and put the window down as soon as I hit the water. Or kept the doors closed, and opened the sun roof. Instead he did nothing but yammer. Not going to help much. |

I have a crowbar under my seat, that I use when hunting for cheerleaders. Do you think THAT might have worked? Not that THIS guy looks like he ever hunts cheerleaders. |

Re: Chinese Man Trapped in Car Drowns in Lake
This should be a part of every driver's education course. I don't think most people realize that it will be impossible to open the door the instant they hit the water. Unfortunately, this driver's fate was sealed the moment he decided to perform a hand over hand turn as an evasive maneuver to avoid what would have been a very minor collision. It seemed like he valued his car more than his life. |
