Re: Young Man Dies While Testing Homemade Helicopter
I mean, everyone here is joking but that's how progress is made. When people were trying to fly you had crazies jumping off towers with big ass wings and falling to their death. The next guy noted it didn't work and made improvements etc. The mistake this guy made was going budget on something important that we already know a lot about. Some things just shouldn't be attempted on a small budget, flying surely being one of them. |

Re: Young Man Dies While Testing Homemade Helicopter
Being a former aircraft mech...I can tell you just what I observed from the vid.... For whatever reason the tail rotor disintegrated. When it went two things happened. First the lack of a tail rotor created excessive yaw. Second the main rotor fodded out (foreign object damage) from the shards of tail rotor. The main rotor then delaminated from the strike and also disintegrated. The unbalanced aircraft then hopped and hurled him into the main rotor. I also agree....he could have been saved by a restraint....even a simple lap belt. |
