Re: Woman Dies During Tug-of-War Competition After Rope Snaps
Jeepers know it too: winch cable snap. In the after photo, the cable snap puts a hole in the windshield right where the Jeep driver's head is supposed to be. |

Re: Woman Dies During Tug-of-War Competition After Rope Snaps
I agree. The rope appears to swing loosely seconds before the accident. Then, something seems to happen in the direction opposite the recoiling end (note people flinch and look that way). Whatever happened seems to cause the rope to stretch and snap very quickly. It also doesn't seem the competition is underway. If it is, the crowd is curiously uninterested—particularly if they are front-and-center between the two sides. I suppose if the rope is long enough and the forces powerful enough, physics could offer an unremarkable explanation...but it does look a bit confusing. |

Re: Woman Dies During Tug-of-War Competition After Rope Snaps
It seems the rope was ONE MILE long! That would explain why it doesn’t appear taut I guess. The sheer inertia of such a length being recoiled at high speeds has literally catapulted her over. I mean, who the fuck thought that a rope being yanked by 5000 people wouldn’t break anyway? https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...d-barrier.html |
