Queensland man Joel Cauchi has been named as the killer who went on a stabbing spree at Bondi Junction Westfield, slaughtering six people and injuring at least a dozen more before police shot him dead.

The 40-year-old fatally stabbed five women and one man as he rampaged through the busy shopping centre brandishing a large knife in Sydney’s east on Saturday

The dead include Dawn Singleton, 25, who is the daughter of prominent Australian businessman John Singleton, Bellevue Hill architect and mother-of-two Jade Young, 47, and 38-year-old Ashlee Good, whose baby daughter was also stabbed.

The man who was killed was Pakistani security guard Faraz Tahir, 30, who moved to Australia a year ago. Saturday was his first day shift at Bondi Junction Westfield.

Twelve people injured in the attack were taken to Sydney hospitals, including nine women, two men and the nine-month-old baby. Several were in a critical condition on Sunday.
