Just a mild low amperage current to "juice up" the jacuzzi experience. He just panicked and lost his head. Hell, he was casually dipping his foot in the water before he did his dumb jump. The wife wasn't even hurt when she reached into the water.

The video shows he never jumped toward the terrace. He purposefully stepped down into the spa, probably intending to scrabble out of it. It looks like he was ok for split second, but I think the surge of water from his splash immersed the electric short location and did him in. |

They weren't thinking it through. There was a little handrail stub he would have to swing around, but that was not a showstopper. Fear of heights may have been a factor in making rational decisions. From the photo, it looks like the terrace is elevated.
