Most people's medical training doesn't go past basic CPR, and not many people even know that much. If you don't have the proper training for such a situation, you could actually contribute to their death rather than save their life. There are no negative ramifications for trying to speak to people in a comforting matter. Trying to get them to talk can sometimes stop them from going into a coma. You don't have play doctor. But you don't have to stand around looking stupid either.
