I know this has been posted before ( http://www.documentingreality.com/fo...ive-tv-113313/ ) but this version is different enough that I figured it was worth an upload.

First of all, the video previously posted seemed to be someone recording his tv with a camera, while the one I'm uploading seems to have been recorded from the tv feed itself, meaning higher quality.

Secondly, it also includes Shep Smith's apology to his viewers.

Note that this is something I put together from two seperate videos. The liveleak one had more watermarks and was of inferior quality, but had the part where the guy gets out of the car and runs around a bit. It also had sliiiightly better audio. So instead of picking between the two I took a hacksaw to it and did my best to very carefully stitch the best parts of both together for y'alls.

Nice job on the video.

I'm not a fan of any TV news any longer, but I was impressed with Shep during his coverage of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in NOLA.

IIRC, I was watching Fox News live when this happened. I didn't stick around for Shep's apology (changed channels), so I saw it for the first time thanks to you.

And worse has been aired by other news teams. This one was pretty tame. Remember R. Budd Dwyer's check-out was broadcast on live tv. I think some form this one was aired live in L.A.: http://www.documentingreality.com/fo...shotgun-84441/.

So the apology is appreciated, but more about CYA, IMO.

I think high-speed car chases are shown because of entertainment value/filler. It's kinda like IRL NASCAR, where you're sitting on the edge of your seat waiting for a michael bay-esque car crash. My guess is that that's why they were showing this guy originally, and when he pulled over and got out of the car they just kept rolling.
