Tajikistan - Paragliding Russian Loses Control
"An athlete from St. Petersburg died in the mountains of Tajikistan. The video captured the last minutes of his life P.C. loved to soar in the air. On September 8, he decided to go paragliding again. Despite good preparation, gusts of wind became fatal for the man - he could not cope with them and at some point began to fall. The camera dropped to the ground, and a man's last screams could be heard in the background."

That was a really great video. Do we know he didn't make it, cause he's alive at the end right?

Re: Tajikistan - Paragliding Russian Loses Control
doesn't take a PhD to see his chute folding in the wind because its not rigid like a wing... therefore losing lift spiraling out of control and rendering it useless |

That is his variometer. It tells you if you’re gaining or losing altitude.

Re: Tajikistan - Paragliding Russian Loses Control
It’s a paraglided. They do not have a rigid frame keeping the airfoil. They can’t penetrate strong downdrafts or thermals. His wing collapsed from a strong downdraft causing him to spiral down. Why he didn’t deploy his rescue chute is beyond me. He should not have been flying in those conditions.
