Re: Retired Cop Resists Thief Trying to Steal His Phone but Gets Shot and Dies

The “identity “ of the victim is unknown but his profession as a retired policeman is!?! I find that rather strange. How did they know he’s a retired policeman if they don’t have him identified?
Because HE'S actually the killer. It's kind of a plot twist in this particular video. Haven't you ever watched "Columbo"?

That killer REALLY needed to make an important phone call!!
Yeah, well, he had a murder he just caught on his phone, and wanted to post it on DR.

The end of the video is exactly like that scene in The Wizard of Oz when all the munchkins come outta hiding.

Re: Retired Cop Resists Thief Trying to Steal His Phone but Gets Shot and Dies

I find it morbidly fascinating when fools are so addicted to their phones that they literally decide that that phone is worth more than their lives and will fight to the death for. Otherwise, I don't like to see videos of the victims of predators being murdered, and it's usually the type of video I avoid on DR (though I love the opposite of that; the "Surprise! Surprise!" videos of criminal scum getting the tables turned on them), but when it's a video of an idiot with his phone that he refuses to part with, even at gunpoint, I find it enjoyable, and put it in the same fun category of the morons that accidentally kill themselves.
I could give two shits about the phone itself, but the content ON the phone is a completely different matter. I mean, yeah it's stupid to take nude pics of yourself, of people you've been with, or to keep other sensitive material on our phones, but we do it anyway, just ask all those celebrities whose phones have been hacked.

Put passwords on your phones, people. You never know when you might lose it somewhere

~ It's called kharma. The ex cop thought that once he retired, all his past corrupt ways were way past over as well. But kharma has a way of reminding people who forget their past, by making them remember it in the present/future, especially at the moment of death's realization.

That may not apply here. An unlocked policeman’s cell phone falling into criminal hands could end up costing many other police, witnesses, and victims their lives depending on what’s accessible on the device (in which case defending it at severe risk to his own life was the noble and morally correct thing to do.)

FYI 20000000 pesos = ~$975,000USD. I guess they take murder of a retired cop seriously there.

A retired policeman and part of the active reserve of the National Police with zero situational awareness.
I agree. No excuse for burying yourself in your cell phone, oblivious to the surroundings.

Cell phones are Darwin culling assistants on a grand scale.

Re: Retired Cop Resists Thief Trying to Steal His Phone but Gets Shot and Dies

Situational awareness is king, he had none.

It is easy to detect ill intentions on people through body language, my wife is always surprised how I'm able to be ready when the need arises.

On one occasion that I was taking her to the drug store, as I was turning the corner into the street it was located at, I saw two guys cross the street (jay walk) into the drug store's parking lot, their demeanor seemed odd to me and I was instantly alert, I watched one of the guys get inside a neighboring store and the other one stood at the entrance, so as my wife went into the drug store I walked to a nearby business and stood outside, leaning on the wall with my car left side in clear view.

Apparently the guy that stood by the entrance of the neighboring store didn't realize I was watching my car from afar.
He walked to the drivers door and lean into my car and as people walked by he smiled at them, trying to look normal to make them believe it was his car.

I walked towards him slowly (all the while watching the entrance of the other store with the corner of my eye, waiting for his accomplice to come out), when I was a couple of yards behind him he turned around and asked me: "It's this your car."
I said "Yes, and I'm waiting for you to make a move."

He just walked away, not wanting to mess with a 6' 8" guy I guess. His accomplice didn't even showed his face during all this.

When I told my wife what had happened, she was surprised I had noticed the two thugs right from the point they crossed the street.

Years of walking alone made me pretty good at reading body language and believe me, it never fails.
