Re: Police Shooting of Philando Castile

This goes with my above reply...if not the driver one is told to put hands on dash in a non threatening place until instructions. Anyone can say they have a concealed carry permit and grab a gun and kill the police! Police are trained to place their safety first. He should never have reached toward his weapon! This is what needs to be learned!

Re: Police Shooting of Philando Castile

As a concealed carry permit holder, in some states you are required by law to inform the cops that you are armed. However, you should never say the word "gun" to a cop. As likely happened in the case, the cop freaked out and over reacted. You should first take out your driver's license and CCW permit and hand both at the same time to the cop. Then you say "Officer, I am licensed to carry and I am carrying at this time." Then you don't move and do exactly what the cop says.

I've only been pulled over once when carrying and the cop could not have cared less that I was armed. However, if I was in a situation where a cop freaked out and pulled out his gun, I would not even blink an eye, and would do EXACTLY what he said, after verbally repeating what he asked me to, and slowly do what he said, while telling him each motion I planned to make before I made it.

We've seen other videos here where a driver is told by the cop to get his license and registration and the cop opens fire. I'm more worried about getting shot by a cop than by a bad guy!

All great comments here, and I totally agree. After being a gun instructor for 10 years, and having lived in various states, I will add to this to say I think one of the biggest problems we have is how many states not only have no requirements for cop-interaction while armed, but don't address it at all. I lived in CT, and asked 48 different cops what they'd have someone do, and none of them had an answer because there was not one defined.

Did anyone see that they WERE NOT pulled for a taillight, but because he looked like a suspect to an armed robbery?

Re: Police Shooting of Philando Castile

If she so much as tried to help her boyfriend, the cop would have shot her dead and later say she was reaching for the firearm. If anybody thinks this kind of behavior is acceptable from a police officer, you disgust me. This cop executes a civilian in front of his wife and daughter and some of your reactions are to blame his girlfriend for being in shock and trying to document the crime. Youre what is wrong with humanity.
I actually don't begrudge her for not TOUCHING him, but she was clearly talking for a very, very long time - she had something in her hands was moving it around so I question how petrified she actually was to move or touch him since she was moving quite a lot. She wasn't worried about the movement and all the other stuff while talking. That said, I don't think her not touching him is relevant.

What IS relevant, is that she said no words to HIM as he lay dying. She talked and talked and talked and ranted and raved. If you can't touch someone, at least comfort them with your words. I still think she was stoned as hell, and was more worried about Facebook than him. It's compounded when she states in the presser AFTER that the police denied him care, and denied her the ability to speak to him or say goodbye to him.

Clearly, they didn't tell her to shut up - or they did and she didn't listen, so why not take that precious time to say something to comfort him... I love you, don't leave me, stay with me. She was broadcasting that for what... 5 minutes(?) before getting out of that car. She could have both ranted and raved and STILL had time to say something to him.

She was more worried about fame.

Re: Police Shooting of Philando Castile

FWIW, her story changes in the same video. She starts with him being shot four times and he was getting shot, as he reached for his ID.

By the middle of the video, she says he was shot three times and he was raising his arms in the air like he was told. Then at the end, she says "four or five times" and for "no apparent reason".

A broken tail light doesn't seem like the cop would approach with weapon drawn, so unless this dude was a gunslinger at the OK Corral, I can't see how he'd reach and fire four times after asking for ID unless the dude was either doing something, or stupidly said "I have a gun" as he went for his pocket. Her story doesn't make sense, but then again, there are rare asshole power tripping cops who need to be losing their jobs to protect the good ones.

No word on officer or dash cams yet.
Can you began to imagine how stressful this must be for this young lady with her child in the back seat, you stupid piece of shit!

Given how she treats her little one, I'm guessing not all that stressful... ya simpleton.
