This is my argument for "he shot his own leg".

This image is captured at the exact moment in the vid where you hear the weapon discharge.

The officer is grabbing the pistol in the holster with his finger buried in the trigger guard.

The weapon would discharge against his leg through the bottom of the holster. This is consistent with the description of the injuries explained in the article.

The point at which the yellow arrows in the other image are displayed are after the discharge is heard.

I could be wrong...to be honest, I'd like to have a muzzle flash.

Even if you're correct the call officer should have their body cameras running. That's always suspicious when they're not recording with their body cameras
