My guess would be these videos are for the most part made to intimidate. A quick short death doesn't intimidate. A slow "we hack your face neck body apart paifully" death does more so. So I'd keep the knives as dull as possible if I was doing it  .

To add on to my last part, the quick death also goes for their enemies that seem to hold rank in other organizations (at least at times) which they at least respect in some way. Like you've got to die but it's going to be quick. When they send messages and if they dont respect the person or what they did its slow.
