Re: Karl Wallenda Falls to his Death
You and me both, boomer! My dad was a Detroit cop, and they had Field Days at Tiger Stadium with circus acts, comical skits, and death-defying feats. I watched a guy climb a ladder 100 feet into the air, and he was to do a magic act standing on the little platform at the top. Whoops. I must have only been 7 or 8 at the time, but I knew that guy was dead. I'm still impacted by that.

Re: Karl Wallenda Falls to his Death
There was none of this health and safety in the good old days. If people want to throw their lives away doing pointless stunts let em.

Re: Karl Wallenda Falls to his Death
"The Wallenda family attributes the tragedy to "several misconnected guide ropes along the wire" and not the windy conditions." I am not a high wire engineering RKI, but it looks like the wire started oscillating like the Tacoma Bridge. Kurt's motion and/or the high wind excited the ropes resonant frequency. The guide ropes probably provided a necessary dampening effect, and weren't installed correctly. Perhaps the Wallenda's used criminally negligent Latino labor for the installation and paid the ultimate price. |
