His mother gave birth to him when she was 14 and died 2 weeks later.
His father was killed in prison in 1998 at the age of 21.
He was 29 when took his life a few days ago.

Benzo is an entire class of drugs, not a specific certain one. Which were you thinking of? 4mg of temazepam (Restoril), let's say, is about as sedating as an adorable little kitten slow-blinking for 45 seconds. On the other hand, 4mg of alprazolam (2 "Zanny Bars") is similar to watching the equivalent of 128 hours of C•SPAN on a little black and white television in ten minutes.

Please forgive me for my ignorance, but what exactly just happened here?

Did he poison himself? Suffocate himself?

I mean, he clearly drank a concoction of what I'm assuming to be sodium nitrate, but why the mask?

This was incredibly sad to watch, and the entire time I was thinking "there's better people outside of his bubble to surround himself with, he doesn't have to do this. I wish there was something I could have done."

There's no reason to keep negative people in your life. If you're considering buying the farm because you are miserable with the company you keep, then make a change.

I genuinely feel terrible for this kid. It's a shame that he felt like that was the only answer.
Thanks for expressing the same empathy I felt for him.

It was really heartbreaking reading his backstory and health issues then hearing what he said.

That's why church can be a good place for people like this. Personally, I don't go/believe. But I've come to respect the role it can play in community support for the vulnerable.
